The Deception

When Gene asked me out to the best steak place in Manhattan, I knew he had help setting up the date. As much as I love Gene, he is definitely not the romantic type. This is all Paul's doing. In fact, I asked Paul to "help" Gene set it up.

"Eric," I say to myself, "You know this is deceitful."

The whole time we're at dinner, I try to keep from laughing. Finally I excuse myself so I can laugh out loud. He comes looking for me soon so I cover my laughter with fake "choking". "I'll be right there. I swallowed something and am having trouble with it." I lie.

Gene goes back to our table and I arrive shortly. I hope I can finish this dinner date without giving myself away.

Since it's late when we get back to Gene's I decide to spend the night.
