"Gene, what's so wrong with Eric singing Beth? I mean the Fox sang it and the fans loved it for the most part." I really want an answer from Gene. One that actually makes sense. I'm waiting for his answer. He just walks away.
Shrugging, I look at Tommy who doesn't know what to say either. We leave Gene in the rehearsal room and walk out to get lunch. Who knows where Eric went to. Hopefully when we come back, everyone will have calmed down a bit and we can get on with rehearsal.
Over drinks and a light lunch, Tommy shyly said he thinks that Eric should be allowed to sing Beth at the next concert. "I mean Eric has a wonderful voice, Paul, have you ever heard him sing Beth?"
"No. When have you?"
"When we were at the bar one night. Karaoke and all."
That made me kind of jealous. Why was my boyfriend out with Gene's boyfriend? And what happened when they were out with each other?"
"Stop it, Paul!" I scold myself. "It's just two friends out together."
Talk turns back to rehearsal and the upcoming tour. I have a feeling that Beth might become a showstopper from now on.
