Happy Easter, and if you don't celebrate Easter, Happy Sunday
Rolling over, the once warm presence on the silky sheets had begun to grow cold due to the now empty space. Fighting to drift back to sleep, the omega had given up due to the frustration of being unable to; the night before he lay awake waiting for his mate to come to bed it was only then he could find slumber with the large body next to his. Gon must've gotten up extremely while his bride was in a deep sleep because he didn't even feel the warmth left the bed. A cool breeze glided through the open window, Killua remembered asking his husband to open it when he had finally made it to the room. It was unusually stuffy, that's one of the factors the albino had contributed to him still being wide awake at such late hours of the night, but he and the alpha soon figured that wasn't the actual reason for his sudden insomnia. At least the morning was soothing this uneasy feeling he had about being away from his mate, but after today that would go away at least for a few days, a small genuine smile crept across the sweet sleepy face.
"Someone's having a good dream", the light whisper almost went unheard, drowned out by sunrise songbirds. The crystalline eyes snapped open, ensuring he wasn't hearing voices or a ghost, he couldn't use his nose because Gon's fragrance would overwhelm anyone else's scent that stepped foot in their chamber. Politely surprised it was no one other than the tangerine-headed first advisor sitting down, smiling down at him. "Did I wake you?", she apologized and urged him to go back to sleep; but she didn't wake him; he was already awake, just his eyes closed.
"M..Mito, is that you?", he blinked a few times, it had only been two days since he saw her in Gon's study that day but it was so quick he barely even got a chance to speak between being upset and irritated. He actually hadn't been alone with the woman for a week now, she of course didn't look any different even though he's sure she was refreshed and well energized from the lack of duties. He now looked at her through a different lens. She was always in a chipper mood, while underneath she was likely stressed and overwhelmed much like his husband had been this past week.
"Who else would I be?", she chuckled, resting her chin in her open hand. Killua didn't answer, no one else was allowed in the royal chambers anyways. "Well since now you know the answer", she reached out and placed a finger on the small nose, "you should try to get some more rest". It was going to be a long day for all of them involved, to be completely honest she was already exhausted from everything she had to do and the things she had to make sure got done. And while she could admit Killua didn't have much to do, he would be just as overwhelmed as her if not more. The speech wasn't until early evening, Gon wanted the castle empty by sunset but an hour would go by in a second if one allowed it. But the advisor knew the omega could sleep until late morning so as to not rush him.
"I'm awake", the teen sat up, "it's not like I can fall back asleep if I wanted to", without the familiar warmth of his designated alpha he'd be left tossing and turning until someone told him it was time to get ready. Gray orbs studied the omega for a moment before shrugging and simply taking his word for it. She proceeded to ask him how he felt this morning as well as about the speech, especially with the multitude of persons that will be in the building. "Ready to get it over with", she couldn't agree more.
Since Killua established he wasn't going back to sleep, the two decided to go downstairs. On the way to the nook, they witnessed maids and servants hustling about, frantically completing projects, a few even stopped to ask Mito a handful of questions, the adolescent could tell they were almost more relieved for her to be back than he was, keyword being: almost; no one could be more eager than him now he'd be able to spend much-needed quality time with his mate. It then hit him, wasn't she still supposed to be on vacation until tomorrow, he asked her that very question. "Some things can't be postponed", she didn't seem to mind, "besides I'll make it up", she winked.
