—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————Friday came in an instant and Ellen was now getting herself ready to head over to Pattys house for dinner and games. 'And hopefully drinks'. She stood in her big closet trying to decide what to wear. She wanted to look nice but at the same time she didn't want it to look like she was trying too hard. After trying on several outfits she finally saw it, way in the back. There it was, the dress Patty gave her for her 37th birthday, before all the chaos broke out between them. She had actually never worn it because after what had happened that night it felt wrong to wear it and as time went by the dress was forgotten. The dress was stunning but still simple, a knee length dress in emerald green with sheer arms and a sweetheart neckline. It was perfect for tonight, and Ellen also wanted to see if Patty would remember it. 'And maybe get a reaction from him' After putting on the dress she thought about wearing one of Jillians jewlerys to make her happy but then she decided not to because they would take away from the dress and she put on a simple gold necklace instead. She looked in the mirror and felt really pretty, Patty sure knew how to pick a dress and she smiled thinking about how he'd react tonight. "El, you ready?" She heard Chris yell from downstairs and headed out of the room leaving her thoughts of Patrick behind. Stella was standing at the bottem of the stairs as she walked down, "Wow mom, you look beautiful" her sweet daughter told her as she came down. "Oh baby, thank you! But not as beautiful as you" Ellen felt her heart melt at Stellas comment, she had grown into such an amazing girl. "Call us if you need anything" Ellen told Stella as she and Chris walked out the door.
Patrick sat in the kitching waiting for the night to start. Jillian was upstairs getting herself ready and he heard a soft voice behind him "Dad, i'm going to friends house. You and mom have fun tonight. Say hi to Ellen from me" It was T heading out in a rush. She was so grown up now he could hardly believe it some days. After thinking about tonight a bit more Patrick had really started to become excided about the night, he was going to get to hang out with his best friend after all. The fact that he kissed her passionatly just a few days ago was not something that had to matter, he had learned a long time ago to accept that they were just friends that sometimes stretched the lines of right and wrong and that was all they were ever going to be for both of their families sake.
He had stocked up on tequila, neither he and Jill nor Ellen and Chris had any kids to be responsible for tonight so he thought they might as well enjoy this. In addiction to that fact he loved seeing Ellie drunk, she was just so damn adoreble when she stuttred out her words and her giggle got even brighter than usual. Patrick realised that he was sitting there with a huge smile on his face at the images inside his head.Jillian was the one greeting them at the door as Ellen and Chris arrived. Ellen gave her a polite hug and complimented her on her looks as Chris politly shook Jills hand. "Thank you Ellen, you look great yourself. I love the dress, where did you get it?" As Jill told her this Ellen knew that she was right all those years ago and Jillian had nothing to do with the gift, it was just Paddy. "Oh thank you, i don't know i found it in the back of the closet. Pretty sure it is a gift from a long time ago" Ellen told Jill with a smile as she searched the room for her best friend who had yet to appear. "Patrick's in the kitchen pouring drinks, I thought we could have some champagne and horderves in the garden before dinner." Jillian told them and before Ellen could respond Chris said "Sounds great, i'll go help Patrick so you two can sit down" and Ellen knew he was being sweet, although she wished she'd gotten to help Patty so she could hug him hello. "Oh thank you Chris" Jillian said and as Ellen followed Jill into the yard she couldn't help but to picture Patty in these pool chairs talking to her all night the other night and she smiled at herself.
