It had been two days since the eventful dinner party and Ellen was getting ready to go see Patrick. She knew that she should have told Chris about the hike today but she just couldn't, she was too exhausted for there to be anymore fighting over their friendship. "Chris, i'm going on a run. See you later." Ellen just said as she opened her front door to leave.
She looked down at her phone and saw she had yet another text from Eric. He had been insistent that they'd meet up soon and Ellen knew that he wanted to ask her about everything. She loved Eric like family and realised she had to talk to him soon but she didn't want yet another one of her friends telling her what to do about her and Patty.

Patrick arrived to the hiking trail a bit early, mostly because he wanted to leave his house before Jillian woke up. Things were fine at home right now but Tal was asking where he was going all the time and he guessed that it was Jillians doing.
"You know you don't have to spend an hour on your hair just for a hike Patty?" He suddenly heard Ellie say behind him and he turned around. As he watched her approach him he couldn't figure out why they weren't together. Ellen was everything to him and a part of him had really wanted Jillian and Chris to just find that out the other night, but he knew that would just cause more damage. "Well i gotta make myself a little presentable when i'm hiking next to the most beautiful woman on earth." He responded as he walked over to give her a hug. She giggled and his heart raced at the sound "Oh you can stop Patty. You're not getting in my pants today." She told him with a laugh and a wink. "Oh really? Well hair done for nothing then." He joked and she playfully hit his arm.

They walked their usual trail and both of them thought it felt really nice just to be. No drama, no sex, no secrets and most importantly no one else around. They talked about everything they'd done during these last months apart and Ellen bursted out into laughter when Patrick walked right into a bush after he'd been looking at her ass. It was moments like these that reminded them how it all started, with an amazing friendship.
"Wanna sit down a bit?" Patty asked her and pointed to the bench next to a beautiful pond. "Sure." She just answered and followed him without hesitation. "So..." Patrick said out of the blue and Ellen knew things were about to turn serious. It had to, Ellen knew that but that didn't mean she wanted to ruin this day. "...we should talk about the other night right?" He continued sounding a bit hesitant as he watched her closely. "I guess we should" Ellen said sounding a bit unsure of her herself.

Patrick inhaled and watched Ellen closely before he spoke. He was about to risk things again for this woman and he didn't want her to break his heart again.
"I know I said we should just dial down the romance El but both you and I know that's not going to last forever. I look at you and i'm more in love with you now than I ever thought I could be. Maybe it's time for us to make some different choices. It's not fair to lie to everyone anymore."  He watched Ellie as she took it all in and he could see she was struggling with her own thoughts. She looked over at him and he saw that her eyes were watering, all he wanted to do was to hug her and wipe away her tears before they even appeared.
"Patty..." Ellen finally said and moved her hand over to hold his hand. "I love you so much it hurts but do you really think spitting out the truth all of the sudden is going to fix anything? It will break our families and it could ruin our careers aswell if this all became public." As Ellen told him this she could see his face fall. She didn't really care about her career but at the same time he was suggesting that they should tell the truth?! She didn''t really think Patrick understood the consequences of being truthful after years and years of lies.
"I don't care about that Ellen! We can't keep doing this don't you know that? It's been fifteen years of lies!" Patrick knew he had raised his voice and it wasn't his intent but her words just upset him. She was making excuses like she always did and she never had anything new to say either.

Ellen watched Patrick get mad and she couldn't control her own emotions now either. 'why didn't he get it?!'
"Well if you can't keep doing this then i have the perfect solution!" She screamed as she got up from the bench. "We don't do this anymore. Go home to your family!" She continued to shout as she walked away from him. "You're running away again huh? It's all you ever do!" Ellen heard Patrick scream at her but she didn't look back, she just kept on walking towards her car as she felt her eyes tear up. As soon as she got to the car she started to cry. She hadn't meant it but he was just so frustrating some times. It was as if he didn't understand that there was never going to be an easy fix for all of this.

As Patrick watched Ellen walk away from him his anger quickly faded and he felt his heart break. It wasn't the first time, nor was it the second time he had to watch her walk away from him. 'They say it hurts less everytime your heart breaks but for each time Ellen breaks it, it hurt a bit more' Patrick thought to himself as he felt a tear sneak down his cheek. As he sat there he let his head sink into his hands.

*flashback to 2014*
Ellen had announced to everyone that she and Chris were having another child. This time through surragacy.
Patick was pissed. Not because they were having another kid, he knew she wanted more children and he really did want her to get everything she ever wanted in life. He was pissed because she didn't tell him first. Not only was he her best friend and she always told him major events first but she should also know that he needed to react alone to news like this. As much as he wished for her to get everyhing in life it always fucking hurt when he wasn't the one to give it to her. Patrick had stormed out of the reading room after Ellens news and was now sitting in his trailer alone with his anger and he knew she would knock on the door any second now. After these last few years of being in this complicated situation with her he knew that she didn't like to discuss their feelings to much but he also knew she would be too curious to let him storm out without questioning it. And just as he thought that she stormed into the trailer seconds later...

"What the hell was that Patrick?!" Ellen screamed at him as she closed the trailer door behind her. Patrick felt himself get more angry when he saw that she was angry. "What the hell was that?! You didn't think to tell me you were having another baby before announcing it to the whole world?!" He yelled back at her and right now he felt as though nothing she said could calm him down.
"Oh for christ sake Patty! Why do you even care?" As she said this he spiraled into raw rage. Why did he care? Was she serious? After everything they'd been through he should what? Be happy? "Why do I care? Ellen I fucking love you and you know that!" Patrick knew he was upset but he also thought that they could discuss this after they calmed down but instead he was met with. "Well then stop loving me!" And with that Ellen left the trailer. She fucking left.
He never saw himself as the crying type of person but when Ellen left with those words his tears started to fall. Nothing in his life had hurt a much as those words had.

Ellen left the trailer and ran into her own. She didn't mean to say that but she got so emotional when she heard him scream and shout at her. She knew she should have told him about the baby a long time ago but she just couldn't. She hated hurting him and wanted nothing else than to stop these growing feeling they both had with each day that passed.

*end of flashback*

As Patrick sat there thinking about the past and how he always watched her leave their fights. Fights that could take days, weeks, months or even years, like the one when he left the show had, for them to work out again.
'No not this time' he decided. He was not going to let her run away. Not again. So he got up and almost ran to his car. He was going after her this time and he was not letting her go without figuring this out.

So i'm back! Sorry for the lousy updates. I just have not been in a writing mode. But it will be better now, i promise.

This was a bit shorter than the other chapters but i'm no good at writing fights. But they had to have some of those aswell.
By the way i am compleatly convinced that if they ever would have gotten together Ellen would hurt Patrick and not the other way around.

Thank you so much to everyone that have read my story, It doubled in reads this last month! Crazy.
