Patrick came home with Jill after the podcast feeling tired, it always was hard to be with Ellen, and at the same time it was the easiest relationship he ever had with anyone. But the act he put up in front of everyone else and especially Jillian had become excausting to him. He tried putting distance between him and Ellie after he quit Grey's but that had just made life even harder. Life without his best friend just wasn't the same as with her. He loved his wife, she was a great person and amazing mother but Ellie... well Ellie had that sparkle he needed in his life that no one else could ever replace. Her laugh was infectious and made his soul smile and it always had. They had been close from that first day of filming and he could still remember the first time he auditioned for Derek. Ellen had already gotten the role as Meredith Grey and when he first heard her spoke he felt like he was home with her Boston accent and warm smile. After filming for a few days and having met all the other actors he just gravitaded towards her and her to him. He had gotten along with most of the people on set, except maybe Isaiah, he had a bad feeling about him from the start and he knew he was jealous that he got the role of Derek Shepard and not him after the auditions. But fortunatly Isaiah was history.

The more time that passed the more he and Ellen hung out and since they shared a trailer that first season, hanging out with her inbetween takes became the most natrual and their co-stars just accepted how close they got. Although both of them knew that some of them talked a lot about what was going on in the trailer. But all they did was hang out, and she quickly became one of his closes friends. He could talk about anything with her, she knew he was married and had Talula and he knew she loved Chris so they never questioned that in the beginning. They were just close friends. To this day he could still remember the moment he knew that she was no longer a close friend but his very best friend.

*flashback fall of 2005*

They had just filmed the mid season finale of season 2 and Patrick was laying down in the bed of their trailer, the show had been doing so well that after the break he was going to get his own trailer and he didn't really know how he felt about that. Sharing a trailer with Ellen was amazing, she helped him with his lines and that made it easier with his dyslecsia. But tonight he just felt depressed and really wished he could be alone. He didn't want Ellen to see him like this. He had a fight with Jillian this morning. She didn't want him to spend the night at set because of his shared trailer. But they were having an on set wrap party and it was going to get late. He tried to reasure her that if Ellen stayed he would sleep on the couch but she had been extra cranky saying "Go sleep next to your Ellie since she is more important than your wife and daughter. This simply was not true, nothing in this world meant more to him than T did and for those words to come out of Jills mouth had led to him screaming and leaving the house in anger.
Ellen and Jill had become friends after the first night of games this spring but there was always a bit of jealousy from Jill when they hung out and he thought it might be because of the Ellie remark he made that first night, even though they never talked about it after that. Right now all he wanted was to have fun with his co workers but he didn't wanna feel like a bad father and Jillian had made him feel like that this morning. 'Was he neglecting his little girl?' That thought had been running through his mind all day. He knew Ellen would be here any second and he didn't want her to see this side of him so he was just gonna blame it on sleeping issues, go home and skip the party.
