AN: Surprise! Two chapters in one day... I was on a roll and thought i'd give you all a treat.

"I know I was a little early but couldn't you wait with that until after I leave." Kate said, teasing both Ellen and Patrick. She obviously interrupted something that would've lead to sex and now she was even more determined to know how this whole thing happened.

"Well I can't help it that she threw herself at me." Patrick said and Kate watched as Ellen playfully hit him. "Ouch." She heard him say even if it obviously didn't hurt. "Don't listen to him Kate. I did not throw myself at him." Ellen was giving him a death glare and she couldn't help but to laugh at the pair.
If she didn't know they were both married she would have thought this was a normal couples night. "So... are you going to tell me what the hell you two are doing?" Kate asked them as they made their way to sit down on the couch.

Ellen sighed at Kates question. She knew it was coming, especially after what she just witnessed. But it was hard knowing where to start. "How about I get us some wine first." Patick chimed in. "That sounds great." Kate responded and Ellen couldn't agree more.

After catching up for a bit and Kate telling them about her life, both Ellen and Patrick knew they couldn't avoid the subject anymore. Ellen gave Patrick a look and he decided to just get it over with. "So Kate. What do you want to know? Ask whatever you want." He simply said and Ellen was now looking down at her hands.
"Well obviously you are having sex. I kind of got that confirmed when I walked in here." He could see Ellen turning red and his own cheeks were starting to burn a bit aswell. "So when did it start? How did it happen? Are you leaving Jillian and Christopher? Have you realised you love each other yet?" Kate just kept going and Ellen chimed in. "Woah, breathe Kate. One question at a time please." She said with a small laugh.
"Sorry I'm just so shocked at this whole thing." Kate said.
Patrick started with answering the most simple question. "Well I do know I love her. I always have." He said and looked over at Ellen who was smiling at him.

About an hour later they had gone through their whole story in short and Kate was just sitting there looking pale. "Kate?" Ellen said. "Are you okay? What are you thinking?" El was nervous that they said too much and that Kate would think they were horrible people.
"I'm sorry i'm just processing. This is a lot." Kate looked over at Ellen but her expression was soft and sweet.
"So let me get this straight... You were having an affair before you left the show?" Patrick and Ellen both cringed at the choice of words. They hated calling it that even if that's what it was. "I'm sorry. Bad choice of words." Kate said when she saw their expressions. "But you had slept together mutible times and were in love. Why did you let him go?" She directed the question directly to Ellen.
"I was stupid." She simply answered. She had gone over this enough times with Patrick to know that she'd made a mistake. "Well I'll say..." Kate said but winked at her.

"You know I would never think less of either of you. I wish you'd both told me sooner. I could have helped you." Kate said and Patrick smiled. He doubted things would have turned out differently if she knew but she was sweet to think so.
"Well we tried to just be friends for so long, we really did. But we never seemed to have much luck with sticking to it." Patrick told her and walked over to Ellen. He sat down next to her to embrace her. He felt like after everything Kate knew now he could do it infront of her.
"I should have known though..." Kate said while watching them. "Especially when you two stopped speaking after Patrick left the show."

*Flashback to 2020*

Ellen was a hot mess. Today was the first day of filming season seventeen and much to her stress it was the first day in years Patrick would be there. They were okay, she knew that. A few months ago she had reached out to him and they had met up for a hike. Sure they hadn't talked much about how they left things between them but she had taken a moment to apologise. They both decided to let the past go and go on as friends. It was the best thing they could do.
However leaving their hike Ellen had got that stupid feeling in the pit of her stomach again. The one that reminded her that she loved him more than anything at one point in her life. Maybe she still did?
After he agreed to come back for this season they had texted a bit back and forth. Their conversations hadn't been deep but it still brought that stupid smile to her face whenever they texted. She needed to forget it, he was obviously over her after all these years and they finally had a chance to be friends.
