Chapter ??? - Level Three.

The sight I opened my eyes to when I emerged from the purple light of the portal was nothing short of creepy.

It was another town, but not metal-tudor styled like the last place. The road, again, was cobbled and it ran through what seemed like on single street, extending for miles. Just a line of houses on either side of the road, extending for an eternity. Silvery fog settled around the houses, and across the road, floating around, limiting the sight range and shielding us from any sun the bleak grey sky may have had to offer. The area surrounding this 'town' was what looked like a huge graveyard, with black metal fencing, dented in some places, extending beside me and disappearing into the fog. Gnarled leafless trees and broken, crumbling and mossy gravestones littered the dead, grassy landscape.

I shivered. "Ugh, I don't like the look of this place."

"Mm." Chris agreed. I glanced at Derren, who hugged himself and shuddered, going paler by the second.

Chris pulled a face, putting one of the strings of his hoodie in his mouth and chewing. "Let's go." He said through the mouthful. I nodded and took in the surroundings, following behind the scared looking Derren and the displeased Chris. Tufts of yellow grass sprung through the cracks in the cobble, along with wilted dandelions and other weeds.

The two in front of me talked quietly amongst themselves, and I just followed them, not really listening. I could tell Chris was making sure I didn't run off, though. He seemed to only be half listening to Derren's rambles, and didn't look at him at all, just keeping his eyes straight ahead, one hand swinging by his side and the other on the handle of his sword.

What's their relationship like?

I looked at Derren. He didn't seem to be badly affected at all, no cracks in his large glasses, and simply red grazes on his elbows. Although Chris seemed cold, calm and collected, he looked a little beaten up, unlike Derren. A bit like me: rough around the edges.

So did he make Derren hide for every battle?

There was a tickling sensation crawling up my arm. I glanced at it, and there was a huge black spider, staring right at me. Lots of red eyes. Big teeth. Tiny body. Long, long thin legs that wrapped around my arm.

GROSS.

"OH MY F*CKING GOD!!" I screamed, jumping and waving my arm around frantically. "Get it off!! Get it OFF!! Someone help!!"

I spun in circles, waving my arm and jumping and generally having a fit. It seemed to grip onto me, but eventually it went flying.

There was a snigger and I froze, looking at the two of them. Derren stifled a laugh, biting down on the back of his hand. Chris had his arms crossed and an amused smirk on his face as he looked at me.

"I forgot to say, there are spiders here. Like, a lot of spiders. Big ones, too." He said amusedly.

I felt as if I'd been winded. There are spider webs everywhere. The trees look like cotton candy because of these spider webs.

Nooo... How had I not noticed?!

I felt a shiver up my spine and I made a face, taking my hoodie off of my waist and checking it all over. I took off my bag and axe, before putting it on to stop the goosebumps covering my arms. It was freezing.

I. F*cking. Hate. Spiders.

Wriggling around uncomfortably in my hoodie, I whined. "I hate spiders... Gross..."
