Chapter ??? - Where's the end of this?
I landed on a bunch of skeletons, hearing cracking and scraping of bones, and sickening squelches of organs. Tiny spiders crawled over me as I looked around. Arms wrapped around my waist as I tried to get up, pulling me down into the mass of organ and bone.
My heart pounded and my breathing raced as I kicked and struggled, trying to get away. "Let go, let go, let go!!" I yelped, prying at the bony fingers clamped around my waist. A large spider crawled up my leg. I kicked it off.
"Quick, here!" Chris said, stomping on what I assume to be an arm and holding his hand out to me. I quickly grabbed on, trying to find my footing as he tried to pull me from the mass of skeletons and their iron grip. Finally, I was up, and I frantically looked for my axe.
There!
Unfortunately, there was a skeleton in my way. Given I didn't have my daggers either, my stomach flipped at the thought of charging straight for it. Chris had left my side as quickly as he'd joined it, and I found myself in the midst of many dangerous skeletons. Spiders everywhere. Everywhere.
"Sh-sh*t..." I said, hugging myself and looking at my feet. Spiders on my shoes. Spiders everywhere. No stuff. Nothing. Nothing but the key. The key and my tie. Spiders. Skeletons.
I'm doomed, aren't I?
What to do, what to do... How do I get out of this?! They're closing in.
Swords ready. About to strike. Doomed. Doomed. The fog is a wall I can't see through.
It's okay. It's okay. Don't be scared. Don't be a wimp. Run.
I turned, frantically trying to find an opening to get through. A skeleton raised its arms, about to strike. I flinched. Wait. There. Go. Ducking under its arms, I was out of the circle. Once behind it, I shoved it, making it crash into another.
Go, go, go. Get the axe, get the axe.
Spiders.
More skeletons.
I whimpered.
No, it's okay. You're not going to die here. You can survive. You will survive.
I ran. Ducking and diving, weaving through them, towards my axe. I ducked under some bony arms and swiped my axe. There was a loud crash that shook the ground. There was a scream. Sh*t. I was running away from the source, the skeletons chasing with increasing momentum.
A glowing orb of white was ahead of me, on the floor. I grabbed the glass bottle, holding the neck of it tightly in my shaking fist. My stuff. The scream.
"Derren!!"
Okay, leave the stuff.
