Chapter ??? - Level Two.

I directed Jack to the end of level one. It’s taken me about a week of playing for two hours daily, and six deaths to get this far.

The winding dark dirt path narrowed to a close, and there was a stone cave, with a huge wooden door with metal hoop handles. Jack made a satisfied noise and opened the door, the screen fading to black.

Some white flowing text was written on the charcoal black.

You are faced with two doors.

One leads to death.

The other, freedom.

Which do you choose?

Left               Right

“Hm.” I said, staring at the screen. Well, it’s fifty-fifty.

 I clicked ‘Right’.

The text disappeared, and the black screen faded, showing Jack opening a heavy looking wooden door, and stepping into a stone floored room. There was a purple swirling portal, and he fist pumped, running and jumping into it.

 The screen faded to white.

Jack then stumbled through the twisting purple vortex in what looks to be a town centre. It seemed to be morning time, and the sky was a slightly different colour in the top screen to its usual daytime blue. What I noticed in this game, is that whoever made it, didn’t put in any stars or even the moon. The night was just a pure, thick black. It was slightly unnerving, but in my opinion it was just a flaw to the game.

The purple light faded and shrunk down to nothing and Jack looked around.

Jack: Where am I? Hm…

Jack looked around a sudden chatter of people started, none of the words I could make out. The noise was, again, unnerving. It was just white noise in the background, but it was very loud.

The screen scrolled around to show some people coming out of their houses, they were dressed in some sort of peasant clothing, many of the outfits being repeated. They walked out into the middle of the streets and little market stalls appeared, then the chattering stopped. I sighed, watching this happen. Some people started walking around, and others stayed by the stalls.

The cut scene ended, and I was free to move.

This time, the sky was its normal pale blue colour, and instead of there being the tops of the trees, there were very tips of the red roofs of the houses, and a clock tower. It was seven in the morning, if the clock actually moved.

I moved Jack around casually, and talked to a market salesman.

Market Salesman: Hello and good day, would you like to trade?
