Chapter ??? - Go to the Forest.

Go to the forest.

The pixelated, blinking white text on a pure black background. I held my gameboy in shaking hands, running my thumbs over the rough plastic on the corners. Since the… incident concerning the lack of stars, I’ve tried not to look at the sky. No one else had appeared to have seen the phenomenon and yet it still continues. If they could see it, surely someone would say something.

“Go to the forest?” I asked aloud. I shifted on my creaky bed a little and tucked my feet under my knees. I plucked the dog hair off my fluffy sock with one hand, staring at the gameboy.

Discord, the game I had been playing for the past two and a half weeks, didn’t have a forest on this level. I’d explored the entire map on this level, and there was no forest. I moved my character around and checked the scribbled map again. No, there was no forest.

 This doesn’t make sense.

 What’s going on?

A random instruction, that doesn’t even look like it’s part of the game.

 Looks more like a glitch.

“Check the internet?” I muttered quietly. Highly unlikely. I doubt there are more games like this one. But maybe...

I stood up and padded across my snagged wooden floor, placing the gameboy on the desk beside my keyboard and clicking the on button of my computer. I sat in my office chair, plucking at the arm and moving the mouse around as I waited for it to start up. Glancing up at my disorganised shelf of games, I decided I’d have to sort them out, I hardly play them any more. Eh, I can replay them.

I typed in my password and clicked onto my browser, sighing.

Maybe there’s a walkthrough, something saying something about this game. There must be demos and first trails.

 Somewhere.

I typed my question into the search engine and waited for results. Nothing, nothing, nothing…

Half an hour later, still nothing, still nothing, still-

Is that what I think it is?

I clicked on the blue link, crossing my fingers and pleading that all this searching wasn’t for nothing.

 Level two.

If you made it to level two, good going! Congrats, really. Things are about to get really, really interesting. Trust me.

Something about that ‘trust me’ made me feel less safe than before. I gnawed on my lip and read on.

You don’t need to do much, but before you take on the boss, you need at least to be combat level two for him to appear. You also need the key to the clock tower. Things get super hectic once you’ve killed the boss, so as long as you already have the key when you take him, it should be fine.

Seems easy enough, but what about the forest thing?
