Chapter ??? - The Bully Incident.

I’ve made it to lunch time.

I was kept home by Mama yesterday, and I had to stay in the same room as her. She’s probably paranoid that I’ll try to ‘commit suicide’ again. But I don’t want to die. Not at all. My body let me off the hook, as when I, petrified, went outside to get the game, the only damage it had taken was a long scratch on the back. I then proceeded to play it for the rest of that night. I’d hidden the game away, to make room so I could play other things, and it helped. I managed to play a variety of different things, my Mama reading quietly in the corner of the room.

She’s still worried, it appears, and I heard her phoning the school to get them to keep an eye on me.

I poked at my macaroni cheese absent mindedly with a fork. I hadn’t gotten any sleep last night or the night before, because every time I closed my eyes I would see his face. The creepy clocktower music would play in my mind and I’d see the white glitching text cover everything.

 Go to the forest.

I can hardly take it anymore. Now I know it means the forest so close to me, it’s hard to stop myself from going. The curiosity comes in waves, and despite what happened, I feel as if I’m being drawn to it. It’s stupid, I shouldn’t want to go there. But I do. That stupid game. I wish I could get rid of it, but…

“Hey, what’s eating you?” Jordie asked, shoving another spoonful of rice pudding in his mouth. His twin sister sighed and picked up a napkin, dabbing at the corner of his mouth, where he’d smudged some pudding.

He swatted her away and I looked back down at my food, scraping the pasta off the baked cheesy crust.

“Hey.” He pushed. Looking at him, I saw his brow furrowed over his grey eyes, and he frowned. “You can tell us. Otherwise, what’re we even good for?”

Sofia perked up a little and smiled, tucking a strand of purple hair behind her ear as she played her nintendo. She had her bottle of flavoured water on the table, and took a swig every now and then. “Is it that thing you got in the post?” She asked, not taking her eyes off her game.

“Which thing?” Sadie asked, tweaking her blonde ponytails and shifting her white headband slightly. I looked to Jordie, urging him silently to explain. I haven’t been bringing the game in at all for the past three and a half weeks, but somehow it had wormed its way into my bag this morning.

I really don’t want to think about the game, let alone talk about it.

Jordie scraped the rest of the rice pudding out of his pot and licked the spoon. “Oh, the gameboy. How’ve you been getting on with that, anyway?” He said, his mouth still full. Sadie tutted quietly and took a small bite from a shiny red apple.

Sofia closed her nintendo and placed it on the table, smiling and leaning forward in her seat. “So? Have you got it with you?” She asked, like almost every day, leaning her forearms on the table.

I sighed. I’ll have to tell them.

I quietly put down my fork and pulled out the gameboy, placing it in the middle of the table. “It’s been glitching out a lot recently.” I said, watching as Jordie picked it up and turned it on.

“Really? Just glitches or something else?” Sofia asked, leaning over to have a look as Jordie started playing, the sounds and music blocking out all of the other chatter in the canteen.
