A sick day

„Are you sure you don't want a narcosis?"
„Yes, I have to go to work in a few hours, so I can't just sit here and wait till I'm not high."
„It is wiser that you take a day off."
„Can't. Let's just get this over with."
Not only that I had to wait one hour even with an appointment, they also forgot to fill the syringes. Maybe Chris should've fired that guy. I looked at my arm and sighed. It went worse the night. My wound is swollen and near the stitches is pus. That is never a good sign. Sure it was hurting the past days and sure it was already swollen, but now I'm worried. The doctors came finally back and surrounded me.
„Do you have any other symptoms?"
„I think I have fever and my arm really hurts."
„Where did you get the injury?"

The syringes went way to slow in my skin and left a paining feeling.
„Work. I didn't look out and metal got stuck in me."
„Who stitched you up?"
„A colleague. He helped me."
„And where do you work?"
„Is that important?"
„It might be. For example the kind of metal."
„I don't know what kind of. I wasn't working at the mechanics. I just helped there out and than...this."
„Well alright..,Do you feel any pain in your arm?"
One of the doctors pressed on my arm, but I felt nothing.
„No. How good are the chances that I can work normally again?"
„Not so high as you would like to probably...this seems pretty much infected."

As they cut the stitch open, I hold my nose with my hand closed. That reeks! Pretty sure that it shouldn't be like this.
„Hmm...scalpel please."
„Here."
He continued to open the stitches inside too and sighed.
„The vein is not intact. Pus is on the opening. We have to melt it together."
„M-melt? How? That sounds painful."
„You shouldn't feel anything. It's an easier way of fixing important parts together."
„But didn't the needle only paralyzed the skin?"
„Oh no. Your whole arm got paralyzed. Didn't you notice it?"
I shook my head and closed my eyes. It's really hot in here. I already wear a t-Shirt, so why is it still so hot?
„Alright. Your vein is closed. Time to remove the pus."

Is it normally taking so long? Pretty sure it's been one hour already. Didn't they only want to stitch and disinfect it? Why the hold up all the time?
„Is something wrong? You've gone all silent."
„Just asking myself when I can get back to work."
„I wish I could get a break from work. We can hand out a sick certificate."
„No, no. I love it there. The payment sucks, but as long as I love it, I don't want to be apart from it."
„Ah yes, the young innocent words from someone who doesn't work more than two years in their jobs."
„I...don't understand?"
The doctors around me chuckled and continued to do my arm. Seems like my answer lit the others up. Well, happy workers are good workers so that's to it.
„Aaand done. We only have to bandage it up and you're good to go."
„Sweet!"
„HOWEVER."

The one who rapped my arm up looked at me worried.
„It does appear that the infection put a stroll to your immune system. You need to rest at least three days."
„I can still work! It's fine!"
„You Are in no condition to work. If you take medicine, it might go better sooner."
„But-„
„We're gonna write down a recipe for you. Wait here a minute."
Shit. I mean sure, I could have guessed it, but how? It didn't feel any worse the past days, only today!
„Here. Take two in the morning and one before going to bed. It should reduce your fever."
„...Can I get my sick certificate than?"
„Yes, can you wait outside?"

This isn't what I planned. I can't just stay home, that wouldn't even be relaxing. But I could infect the children...although fever isn't something that's is infected right? Why is my concentration just so low?
„And there we go. Please inform your workplace about it."
„Yeah, I'll do."
I saw my bus and immediately sprinted to it. I sat down in a seat and tried to blink. My vision is black again. And I'm faster out of breath than usual. Working with this will be exhausting. As if I would stay home. Or rather, in this house. Sun and Moon are waiting for me, there is no way I can just disappoint them. Julia will be mad at me, probably. It's not like she works in this moment I enter the daycare, so it should be fine. How long did they even give me sick days? ...WHAT?! Two weeks?! Why??? No one can know about this. No one HAS to know about this.
