"Do I have to?" Camilo asked for the millionth time "it was just a joke she knows it too!" Pepa rolled her eyes before placing a tin of cookies in his hands "you're going to go over there, and you're going to say you're sorry and give her these cookies." Camilo sighed he and his friends had made a prank on the smart girl at school which resulted in her uniform getting wet and her having to go home early. "Camilo, I did not raise you to be mean, you will say you're sorry do you hear me?" Camilo nodded "yes, Mama."

The walk there was terrible. This is between you and me but he likes Y/n. I mean she always dressed nice and she can cook really well a bit better than his tía. She has a nice smile and even though he's rude to her she always smiles at him. When he got close to the house he heard yelling at first he thought maybe someone dropped something so he continued his way. When he finally was close enough to the house he looked through the window and he saw your father. He noticed he was yelling and throwing something and when Camilo looked long enough he heard that he was talking to someone. "You let some punk make you come home? Fucking worthless can't even stay at school." Camilo's heart sunk. That man wasn't hitting you right? Camilo wanted to knock he wanted to help, but he felt frozen he heard your cries for him to stop he heard it all. Camilo went home without even knocking on your door. He brought the cookies to his room and he place them on his desk before changing and getting into bed.

How long had it been going on? How long have you been battling your father's behavior? Did Dolores know? Camilo jotted out of bed and headed towards his sister's room "Hey, Dolores can I ask you something?" Dolores who had a face mask on motioned the boy to come closer. "Have you've heard any yelling in town before?" Dolores shook her head "I head to my room around 8:30 and it's soundproof so I hear nothing." I nodded "oh, okay just wondering." The boy went back to his room and eventually fell asleep.

Camilo woke up early and got dressed and grabbed the cookies. "And why do you still have those?" Pepa stopped the boy "Oh, she was busy when I went over so I was gonna give them to her today In class. "You better Camilo or I'll take that phone." Camilo nodded and walked to school. He thought hard about it and couldn't believe someone as nice as Y/n was getting treated like this. When he arrived at class he noticed she was the first person there. "Y/n, I wanted to give these to you to say sorry for getting you wet." Y/n noticed the cookies and smiled "thank you, Camilo!" She smiled big before taking them and placing them in her bag. Everyone else eventually piled into the class and he went to his seat. The whole day he couldn't get her out of his mind. "Hey, Y/n wait up!" The girl turned around with a smile. "Yes, Camilo?" Camilo smiled softly "I need help with the homework can you please help me?" Y/n nodded "I can till four though I need to get home and help my dad." Camilo's smile fell at the mention of her dad. "I'll make it quick."

Pepa was shocked to see you walk in behind Camilo "hello ma'am!" Your smile beamed high while you followed Camilo to his room. It was 2:50 and you were almost done helping Camilo "how do you get so good grades." You shrugged "my dad wasn't smart growing up so he wants me to be smart. At least that's what he tells me." Camilo nodded "so is your dad like stay at home?" Y/n shook your head "he helps builds homes in town so he gets home kind of late. He usually comes in a bad mood and I get the short end of the stick." Y/n still smiled at him before looking back at the homework "how does that make you feel?" It was the first time someone had asked her that question she shrugged "you don't get good grades for yourself. You do it for your dad." Y/n sighed big before smiling at Camilo "I think have this thing where I need everybody to think I'm the greatest. The quote on quote "girl who's perfect" and if they aren't completely knocked out, dazzled, and kind of intimidated by me then, I don't feel good about myself." Tears fell down her eyes while she looked at Camilo "my whole family traditionally likes to be the best at whatever they do and I'm actually good at getting the best grade." Camilo looked at the girl "I think at the end of the day I'm just-" Camilo cut her off "I know, looking for validation." Y/n nodded "Yup." Y/n laughed "I deserve it though so don't worry. I saw you last night. If he scared you I'm sorry." Camilo shook his head "why do you put up with that? I can help you I promise you can move in here and we can-" Y/n hugged the boy "he's all I got left."

The girl ended up leaving and it left Camilo thinking. She wouldn't ask for help and he decided that if he wanted to make things right he needed to start now. "Mom, what would you do if you realized a friend of yours was being abused?" Pepa, Alma, Dolores, and Julieta sat at the table. "I'd go over there and help her why?" Camilo wondered if he was doing the right thing. Would they even believe after what he was done to her? He sighed and sat down. "It's Y/n." Pepa hugged the boy. "What's wrong with her?" Camilo looked at Alma "her dad hits her. Last night when you wanted me to go over I heard it and saw it that's why I didn't give her the cookies I was scared." Alma got up quick before yelling for Felix and Agustín. "You did a good thing telling us Camilo." The family eventually made it to town and grabbed a couple of more people to help save the girl. Camilo was behind his father and when the house approached they heard cries and yelling. The people in the front broke the door down before entering and grabbing the man away from Y/n. The girl still in her school uniform cried while she laid on the couch. "She's fine! Ask her yourself!" The girl looked away from the angry man before Felix gently grabbed her arm and led out.

That night Y/n snuck into Camilo's room. "Camilo?" Camilo shot his head up looking at the girl "Yes?" She smiled before laying down next to him and hugging him "thank you." He smiled before hugging back "Anytime."
