Evelyn was worried for the first time in her life. She was sure all of this was in her head but as the days went by it became clear that Ruth's curse was quite real. She could not sleep, think, or do the normal things that she once did. The consumed her thoughts and she saw her wherever she went. It had gotten to the point where she thought about Mabel's offer but that would mean she had to make nice with the witch Theodore called his missus.
The only thing was the queen hated the ground the wretch walked on and every time she turned around there she was. Always smiling and talking to one of the servants or guards telling them what needed to be done as if she was the queen. Evelyn needed to put a stop to it all but how could she when she was bed written by the royal doctor. He had the king believing she was crazy or had hit her noggin. No one would believe her when she told them that Mabel had bewitched her son.
She knew all of them saw it. The glowing purple eyes. Or were they just ignoring the fact? It had become clear to her that everyone in her castle was under a bloody spell and Mabel was the cause. What could she do the stop it? Would it just all end if she killed the witch as she did her mother all those years ago? It was only one way to find out as she set herself out to find Mabel to put an end to all of this once and for all.
"It will never work. Mabel is not the problem here dear Queen Evelyn... you are. It is all you! Do thyself a favor and end thy life. That is if you can." Ruth laughed as she rested her head on Evelyn's shoulder. The queen tried her best to pay her no mind as she continued to the door. "I curse thee, Evelyn! I curse thee... Mabel will take everything from your bloody selfish arse. I CURSE THEE!"
Evelyn winced at Ruth's words trying her best not to listen as she ventured out of the castle down to the fields which Mabel was always in. There she found the little wretch dancing in a sheer grown causing flowers to grow all around her. Something was different about her, and the queen quickly realize that she was with child. It was no way that she was letting that demon be born as she hurried over to her but was swiftly stopped by an invincible field.
"What is this?"
"Precisely what it looks like My Queen. Do you think Duchess Mabel would be out here without protection? Or did you forget that she is a magical being?" Beatrice said showing up out of nowhere. Evelyn jumped in realizing that she too was a witch but had been working in the castle for years.
"They cursed you too?"
"They? Queen Evelyn, I am not sure I understand what you are saying. Who may they be and how did they curse me?" She spoke. Now Evelyn was confused as she looked between the gentlewoman standing in front of her and then back to the to witch dancing in the fields.
"You cannot be a witch by birth Lady Beatrice. You are not their color...." Quickly Beatrice cut Evelyn off with a laugh shaking her head as her eyes flashed from a beautiful blue to green.
"You are quite obtuse. Are thee not? Dear Queen Evelyn, the color of our skin has nothing to do with witches. We can be any color if it is in our blood. Did you people of Mabel's color make witches of our color? If thee did you are of the wrong... Tell me how is Ruth treating thee these days? Hav you grown weary of her yet?" Evelyn glared at the woman before her as she smiled back. There was nothing funny about the matter but somehow she thought it was.
"Thee needs to stop this and get out of my way. I need to put an end to this. That witch is not allowed to birth that child. I WILL NOT ALLOW IT! I WILL KILL HER AND THE BEAST SHE IS CARRYING!"
"Careful Queen Evelyn there are listening ears... Like thy son's." Beatrice stated as Theodore lifted from the ground looking over at his mother. Evelyn let out a gasp watch as he stood making his way over to her and Lady Beatrice.
