Paging Dr. Deku

39: Waiting

"What? W-What did you say?" Izuku asked, making sure she heard the right thing.

"I'm sure you're very confused, but this is what Katsuki asked, as he doesn't want you to be his personal doctor anymore. I don't think it was you personally that bothered him, but he has some personal issues that he'd like to deal with on his own. I'll be his personal doctor from now on, and though you were only his personal doctor for a week, I will still let you have weekends off for the time being if that's what you want?" Takashi explained. 

"No, I-I think I'd like to work on the weekends again, takes my mind off things." Izuku answered. 

"Alright, and if Katsuki changes his mind again, then I'll let you know." Takashi said. 

"Right... t-thanks. I-I'll be getting back to work then." Izuku said as she left his office.

"Really? You're not Katsuki's personal doctor anymore? That's great!" Melissa answered on the phone as Izuku was calling her in the courtyard of the hospital. 

"Umm... y-yeah, it is... I guess." 

"You guess? Izu, this is one less worry for you to deal with. That means you don't have to do anything for him anymore, even though both of you are still neighbors." 

"But Melissa, something isn't right about this." Izuku stated. 

"What? What could be wrong with this situation? You're not his servant and this means you don't have to worry about him." 

"Melissa... he's completely cutting off all contact with me." Izuku noted. 

"Completely cutting all contact? How?" 

"Well this morning I tried to call him, but he didn't answer, a-and he even blocked my number completely!"

"That just means he doesn't have any feelings for you anymore like you've clearly tried not to have for him either. He probably cut all contact with you just to prevent from getting anymore feelings for you since you are now dating and have feelings for someone else." Melissa explained. 

"Yeah... maybe you're right." 

"C'mon, cheer up Izu~. You're dating Reed now, and that clearly means you've moved on from Shindo and from the small feelings that you thought you had for Katsuki. Which reminds me I have something I want to tell you!"

"What? Are you dating someone without telling me?" 

"No Izu, next month there's gonna be a banquet for all the most popular heroes, and since your new boyfriend has been rising in popularity, he's been invited. I figured I should tell you about it and try to beat your boyfriend in telling you since I do want you to be there. Your entire class from high school will be there." 

"Oh, that sounds like fun, I'll go." 

"Great! Oh, and if Reed asks you, then just act like you don't know I asked you first. I'm sure he'd love to ask you about it." 

"Don't worry, my lips are sealed! Well, I gotta get back to work, I'll talk to you later, Melissa." 

"Let me know if anything else happens on your end, especially if Katsuki tries doing something to you." 

"Thanks Melissa, I'll talk to you later." she said as she ended the call and took in a deep breath. 

Though the greenette was worried about a certain blond, she realized that if she stuck to worrying about him, then her relationship with Reed wasn't going to get any farther than it is now.
