Now

James
Sirius and Peter are trying to figure out the next prank we're going to do. Remus put them up to it because he's tired of Sirius bugging him for new ideas. I believe he used the words, "Ask Pete for some help this time, I'm tired."

"We can't sneak into Dumbledore's office, merlin Pete!" Sirius shakes his head in disapproval and Peter rolls his eyes.

"All of my ideas that I've come up with, you've turned down." Peter groans and takes a sip of his coffee.

"Sirius, try and include some of Peter's ideas so we can stop hearing the same argument over and over again," Remus mumbles as he continues to write his notes.

At that moment, the door opens to the great hall and Barty, Evan and Regulus walk in.

Regulus glances at me for a moment, and I saw his lip twitch up in a smile before he looks away.

Barty glances at me and nods his head, "Hey, James." he calls out to me. Evan looks at him in confusion and then shakes his head.

"Hey, Barty." I reply.

The guys give me a strange look after that, and I shrug my shoulders.

"What was all of that about?" Peter asks me and glances back to Barty.

"He was just saying hello, Pete. Not a big deal."

"Yeah, I heard that. My ears work.. but it's Barty. We hate the Slytherins."

"Barty is a pretty decent guy," I say to him. "They're all pretty decent."

"Gross!" Sirius groans and points at me. "That- that is my little brother."

"Sorry," I say and raise my hands defensively. "I could've said much worse though."

"Gross! Please stop! I do not want to hear it any longer," Sirius says dramatically.

Lily walks in to the great hall with the girls and I smile at her. She returns the smile and the three of them start walking towards the Gryffindor table. I know last night she said she would sit with us again, but maybe she changed her mind. I wouldn't blame her. It might still be hard for her to be around me after everything.

I was wrong.

Two seconds later, she was sitting down beside me while the rest of her friends, and mine too, were staring in confusion.

"Morning, James." Lily says to me with a smile.

"Morning, Lily." I reply.

"What the fuck is happening this morning," Peter says and stares at us in confusion. "What an odd morning."

"So, I guess we're sitting here." Marlene says as she sits down beside Sirius. "Thanks for the heads up, Lily."

"Just wanted to do this without it being a weird thing." Lily says.

"Well, you failed. It's weird." Peter says to her.

"It doesn't have to be weird, Pete. We're all friends here." Lily mumbles to Peter.

"I know we're friends, but we figured you wouldn't sit with us for a while because of you and James-"

"I was also told that some people," Lily pauses and glances to Sirius. "Become pretty insufferable when I'm not around to put them in their place."

Sirius' head snaps to me and he's glaring. "You are going to regret saying that."

"I'm still confused," Pete continues.
