The group prepared, splitting up in groups and taking the fort at the church. Carol and Daryl left together as well as Glenn, Maggie, and Tara. Rick, Sasha, Bob, Michonne, and Gabriel left to the food drive while Delilah stayed back at the church with Shane, Tyreese, Carl, and Judith with Abraham's group.
Before everyone left Abraham spilled the beans to Rick about Washington. Delilah sat next to Shane in front of the Church and watched the trees sway in the hot wind. The rest of the group looked around the church and made themselves at home.
Delilah looked down at her bloody caked skin and cringed. "I need a shower." She commented while her boyfriend eyeballed her. "You and me both. Imagining you in a hot steamy shower-" Shane smiled biting his bottom lip. Delilah chuckled and rolled her eyes at the smirk on his face.
"I can't even imagine how disgusting that would be right now. Blood and dirty water." Delilah scrunched her nose at the sight making Shane chuckle. Shane leaned in and kissed her lips while guiding her chin to his face.
"Guys." Carl hollered from the other side of the building. The couple broke up and immediately gathered themselves to aid the boy. They turned the corner and found Carl examining something on the side of the church.
Delilah leaned in a bit to get a better look. "Youll burn for this" was carved on the wall. Shane furrowed his brows and put a firm hand on Carl's shoulder. "Good find, bud. Let's tell the others when they get back." Shane praised, nodding at the boy before he walked past them.
The Dixon couldn't keep her eyes off the carving. She crossed her arms and chewed her cheek. "What is this priest hiding?" She questioned while watching Shane trace his fingers over the carving. "God only knows." Shane answered her making a chuckle escape her mouth. She rolled her eyes and grabbed Shane's hand before regrouping with everyone else.
After another thirty minutes of making sure the church was secure and finding all the hidden secrets the group showed up. Delilah and the group heard them outside and they rushed out to see them. When they walked out the door, no one could believe their eyes. Tubs of food were carried back.
"Here take these inside." Rick passed one of the tubs to Shane. Delilah helped by grabbing a few tubs they were carrying off the floor and carrying them inside. Once all the tubs were inside Shane took Rick off to the side and told him about the carving. Delilah stayed behind and checked with Daryl.
"You okay?" She asked, sitting next to her brother. Daryl grunted and shook his shoulders. "What happened out there?"
"She's out there somewhere, Lilah." Daryl looked down. "I'm sure she is. She's a strong girl and it wasn't your fault." Delilah put her hand on her brothers shoulder and gave him a slight smile. Daryl sat there silently. Delilah sighed and put her head on his shoulder and looked into the bright green trees.
