_____
When they got back to Alexandria, devastation rolled over everyone. No one knew the terror they've been through that night and no one knew the new world order. Negan was going to be back and they had to prepare.
Delilah walked to her home in silence. Rick had asked the couple to stay behind to help plan a few things considering Negan's visit but she didn't feel well so Shane went instead. Delilah walked through her front door and dropped everything on the floor. She started to feel sick. She rushed to the bathroom and emptied everything inside her.
Delilah sat on the bathroom floor and sobbed. She gagged through her sobs. A sharp pain went through her stomach. She drew in a sharp breath at the sudden pain. The pain was unbearable. She tried to stand but failed falling forward landing on her knees. Something was wrong but she couldn't get help. Her vision went blurry before fainting over the pain.
___
Rick dismissed Shane after a little bit of discussing. They needed a plan but no one was in the right condition to do so. What they had wasn't going to be enough for Negan. Rick didn't want to keep him long, they needed time to grieve.
Shane walked through the front door and noticed Delilah's stuff laying on the floor. "Delilah?" He called out. When there was no answer he started to get worried. He went to their bedroom and noticed the bathroom light was on. He glanced over and spotted Delilah's feet on the ground. He rushed over and grabbed her in his arms.
The Walsh hovered over his wife and checked her breathing. There was fresh blood on her jeans. He panicked and rushed her to the infirmary. Rosita was there with Eugene, tending to his wounds.
"What happened?" She asked worryingly, helping Shane lay her down.
"I-I don't know. I just found her like this. There's a lot of blood." Shane rambled trying to give her as much as he knew. Rosita checked her heart rate and noticed where the blood was located.
"A miscarriage." She muttered. "Is she pregnant?"
"No. I don't know. She-..."
"It has to be." Rosita interrupted. "I-I've had one myself. I can do what I can."
Rosita tried her best to nurse Delilah back. She kept her stable and out of pain. She found misoprostol in their medicine stash. Rosita was the closest they had to a doctor since Denise died. She was her only hope. Within a couple hours the miscarriage fully passed.
___
Delilah's eyes opened observing her surroundings. She looked around and realized where she was. Shane was asleep in a chair beside her. Rosita noticed she was awake and came to her side.
"How do you feel?" Rosita asked checking her temperature with the back of her hand.
"I-I feel okay." Delilah mumbled trying to sit up.
"That means the meds are working." Rosita told her. Delilah sat up weakly and looked around. "What happened?" She asked.
"Shane found you and brought you in. Were you pregnant?"
Delilah looked back at her sleeping husband and back to Rosita. Delilah's eyes started to fill with tears. "Yes." She mumbled. She knew what was coming. She lost it.
"You had a miscarriage." Rosita frowned watching the girl cry. She got up and hugged her tightly. "I recognized what was happening. I experienced it myself a long time ago. I know how hard it is." Rosita backed away from the hug and looked at Shane.
"He didn't know?" Rosita asked. Delilah shook her head and wiped her tears.
"With everything going on I didn't want it getting in the way."
"Here." Rosita passed her a glass of water. "Get some more rest." She gave her a smile.
All Delilah wanted was rest but she couldn't. She couldn't stop thinking about Shane. The man sleeping beside her had no idea about the baby.
When early morning came Delilah was still awake. She carefully guided her legs over the side of the bed. She tried standing up, accidentally knocking over her water making a big crash. Shane quickly jerked up at the sudden noise and to her side.
"I'm okay. I'm okay." Delilah sat back down and sighed. Silence filled the room. The couple didn't know what to say.
Shane peered down at his wife. "You got something you wanna tell me?" He addressed the elephant in the room. Delilah closed her eyes and drew in a breath.
"How long did you know?"
Delilah felt a lump in her throat. It felt like she couldn't speak. It felt like everything was crashing over her.
"God damn it, Delilah! Please say something" Shane snapped making her jump. He immediately regretted raising his voice at her. There was an anger building inside of him. Not at Delilah, but something much bigger.
"A week." Delilah confessed. "I took the test before we went to Hilltop. I was going to tell you but I didn't want it getting in the way."
"In the way? Are you joking?"
"Shane, please." Delilah begged, her voice cracking. Shane put his head down and took a deep breath.
"I'm sorry." He apologized, taking her hand in his. "This isn't your fault."
Delilah wiped her tears as Rosita walked in the room. Shane moved out of the way and turned away, his hands on his hips calming himself down. Rosita hesitated at the doorway.
"Hey. How are you feeling?" She asked clearing the scene.
"Better." Delilah told her.
Rosita has dismissed her from the infirmary. She was strictly on bed rest for a few days. During those few days everyone was getting ready for Negan's return. No one knew what to expect.
Delilah wanted to do anything to help but was useless in her condition. Everyone continued to grieve and wait. It was a big waiting game for when he was going to waltz through the gates and terrorize them again.
Delilah and Shane were still working through their issues. Shane couldn't understand why she never told him. He didn't know why she didn't trust him. Delilah's guilt swallowed her everyday. She blamed herself for everything.
While Delilah was on bed rest all she thought about was those two nights. Abraham and Glenn's murder repeated in her head as well as the miscarriage.
Nothing felt real anymore. Time slowed down and everything seemed painful. The days going forward were a blur. Until the sound of trucks pulling up in front of Alexandria made everything go back into reality.
