"It's the only way, no one else knows." Rick told Hershel, Shane, Delilah, and Daryl the plan to take Michonne back. The little group where in a private area outside.
"You ain't gonna tell them?" Daryl asks.
"Not until after. We have to do it today. It has to be quiet." Rick told the group sternly. Delilah took a deep breath, tying to process everything.
"You got a plan?" Shane asked his friend.
"We tell her we need to talk. Away from the others." Rick answered, setting the plan. Delilah knew this was wrong. But Rick chose her to keep the secret with them.
"Just ain't us, man." Daryl said, defending the situation of giving away an innocent person. Delilah agreed with her head.
"No, No it isn't." Hershel addressed before leaving them.
"We do this, we avoid a fight. No one else dies." Rick told the three of them quietly. Delilah looks at Daryl and Shane and they both seem to nod their head at Ricks statement.
"All right." Daryl said, nodding his head with guilt. Delilah looks at her brother and furrows her eyebrows.
"We need someone else." Rick gave Daryl and Delilah a stern look. Delilah felt sick to her stomach, like she was going to throw up being in this conversation.
"We can talk to him." Daryl said, nodding to Delilah. Merle would be the one to take her.
"No, I'll do it." Rick sighed.
"I'll go with you." Daryl offered but Rick quickly disagreed.
"No. Just me." Rick said, walking off into the prison, leaving the three of them.
"Oh my god." Delilah sighed under a deep breath.
"You okay?" Shane asked and she flashed him a quick smile.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Daryl, we can talk to Merle after Rick." Delilah said before turning around and leaving the two of them.
___
Daryl and Delilah left to go find Merle a little while after Rick finished talking to him. They found themselves down where no one goes in the tombs.
"Merle..." Daryl called out his brothers name entering the last room they haven't searched yet.
"H-H-Hey guys." Merle exclaimed as his siblings entered the room.
"We were looking for you everywhere." Delilah commented.
"What the hell?" Daryl added, looking around the room.
"I was just about to holler back at ya." Merle said, welcoming the two into the room.
"What you doing down here?" Daryl asked.
"Just looking for little crystal meth." Merle answered and both the siblings nodded their head. Daryl didn't even have to ask that question. Delilah already knew the answer. "Yeah, yeah, I know. Shit will mess my life up when everything is going so sweet, right?" Merle chuckled.
"You talked to rick, right?" Delilah asked, changing the subject.
"Yeah. Oh, yeah. I'm in. But, uh, he ain't got the stomach for it. He's gonna buckle. Y'all know that, right?" Merle said.
"Yeah. If he does, he does." Daryl answered softly.
"You want him to?" Merle asked his two younger siblings in curiosity. Delilah shrugged.
"Whatever it takes." Delilah started but Daryl quickly interfered.
"Whatever he says goes." Daryl answered the question for the both of them. Merle scoffed.
"Do you even possess a pair of balls little brother? Are they even attached? I mean if they are, do they belong to you? You used to call people like that sheep. What happened to you?" Merle started teasing him. Delilah got used to Merle and his tease. He mainly just did it to Daryl and it was a rare occasion he would tease her.
"He changed for the better. So, he's less like you." Delilah stepped up for Daryl.
"Yeah, what happened with you and Glenn...and Maggie?" Daryl asked him.
"I've done worse. Y'all need to grow up. Things are different now. Your people look at me like I'm the devil...grabbing up those lovebirds like that, huh? Now y'all wanna do the same thing i did--snatch someone up and deliver them to the Governor, just like me. People do what they got to or they die." Merle explained.
"Can't do anything without people anymore." Daryl said.
"Maybe these people need somebody like me around, huh? Do their dirty work. The bad guy. Yeah, maybe that is how it is now, huh? How does that hit you?" Merle queried.
"We just want you back." Delilah said softly. "You guys are all I got and I ain't gonna screw it up, but you are."
"Just get out of here." Merle dismissed the two of them. Delilah scoffed and left the room with no hesitation. It's always been the three of them. Merle ruined it all. Delilah made her way back t the cell block and bumped into Shane on her way.
"Hey, I was just looking for you." Shane bloomed with the baby in his arms. Delilah discretely wiped off a tear from her face and put on a smile.
"I was just talking with Merle." Delilah smiled.
"You alright?" Shane asked her worryingly.
"Yeah, just...fine." Delilah said, rubbing the baby's cheek in his arms.
"Merle?" He asked her. She slightly nodded her head. Shane put his hand behind her head and kissed her forehead.
___
Delilah hung out with Shane for a little while before Daryl came by and signaled her to come with Rick. Delilah followed the two with Shane close behind her. Rick led them to the outside courtyard where no one was. Rick told them the plan was off and Merle or Michonne were nowhere to be found. Daryl and Delilah led him to the place they last saw him.
Delilah and Daryl left to go track them down on foot. The two of them left and tracked them down for awhile until they strangely bumped into Michonne walking back to the prison.
"Where's our brother?" Daryl asked her and she told them to keep going and maybe they'll find him.
The more they kept moving, the more Delilah got nervous. The two of them approached a couple buildings. There was a sign of struggle. There were dead people on the ground. The people that were dead were shot. Delilah's eyes trailed over to a walker feasting on a dead body. When they got closer the walker lifted it's head. Delilah stared right into the eyes of her dead brother.
Her body let out a big gasp, her hand flying to her mouth. Daryl dropped his crossbow, tears in his eyes. Delilah started trembling when Merle got up to go after them. Daryl pushed him back a couple times. He let out his anger. Merle got on top of Daryl and Delilah grabbed her tomahawk and swung it into the back of his head, falling backwards.
Daryl grabbed her tomahawk and kept slamming it into his head before dropping it and falling down to the ground. The two of them sat on the ground around their dead brother.
