_________The rest of the day they didn't see Rick nor Shane. Daryl and Maggie left to get stuff for the baby. They didn't want to lose the baby either and they never got prepared with supplies, Lori's sudden death and the baby was a wake up call for everyone. Delilah helped Glenn and the prisoners dig graves for the ones they lost. Tdog, Lori, and Carol.
Delilah slowly walked back from the graves, wiping sweat off her forehead. She walked back towards the courtyard to go in the cell. Daryl could be back any moment with the baby stuff, she wanted to help. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a figure against the wall. Delilah stopped and looked over and saw Shane leaning against the wall silently.
"Hey." She said softly, making him snap out of his trance.
"Hi." He said back and she took a deep breath and walked closer to him.
"You okay?" Delilah asked curiously.
"I'm-I'm okay." Shane said and his voice cracked.
"I'm sorry...for your loss. I know you loved her." Delilah said her condolences.
"I loved her until I met you..." Shane blurted. Delilah's heart skipped in her chest.
"It's just shocking to know she's gone, ya know? I've known her since high school with Rick." Shane said looking back at the memories.
"Yeah, have you...met the baby yet?" Delilah asked softly.
"No, Lori made it clear that baby is not mine." Shane explained, looking down. Delilah frowned and got interrupted by the sound of Daryl's motorcycle pulling in.
She ran toward the gate and opened it, letting them in. Daryl got off with Maggie as fast as he could. He rushed past the group and into the cell block and Delilah followed, signaling Shane to follow.
Daryl sat the bags on a table and dug out bottles and formula. Maggie prepared the bottle quickly and Daryl took the baby from Beth, putting the nipple of the bottle in the baby's mouth. The baby excepted it happily. Delilah couldn't fight the smile growing on her face seeing the baby eat in her brothers arms.
"Yeah, you like that, little ass kicker." Daryl cooed at the baby. Every laughed and nodded at the nickname that fit the baby well. Delilah smiled and looked over at Shane that was watching in the distance. Shane was admiring the little baby. She used her finger to signal him over. Shane chuckled and walked over next to her.
"Little ass kicker." She whispered. Shane chuckled and looked at the baby.
"It's okay." Delilah whispered to him and grabbed his hand. Their fingers intertwined together as they watched the baby get finished with its bottle.
___
A few days past and everything was going well. Shane still hasn't touched the baby and Rick lightened up once and held her. Rick wasn't doing so well and they could all see it. He would disappear half the day. It was hard on Carl with his dad not being in the right state of mind when he needed him the most. Beth was the one that helped the most with the baby and Hershel helped checking on it.
I'm the last three days they started running out of the baby supplies Daryl and Maggie got. They were in a rush and got what they can in little time. They needed to send more people out to get more stuff.
Delilah handed Glenn and Maggie their bags before the got in the car. Glenn and Maggie were the ones that wanted to go out to get the baby stuff since Maggie knew where a different baby store was.
"Y'all be safe out there." Delilah told them and they nodded.
"Always." Glenn smiled. Delilah backed up and let them leave. She watched them drive away and headed back to the cell block.
In the cell the group was doing their own thing. Beth had the baby, Carl was sitting at the table with Hershel. Shane was sitting against the wall. Delilah walked towards him and but her hands on her hips, hovering over him.
"Out of all the places you pick to sit on the floor." She exclaimed and he shrugged. Delilah laughed and helped him up off the floor. Rick walked in and greeted everyone. Rick walked over to Beth and took the baby out of her arms. Rick bounced him arms and rocked the baby, cooing at her.
Delilah looked at Shane and back at Rick. Rick suddenly started walking over to them with the little baby in his arms. Delilah tilted her head slightly as Rick tried to pass the baby to Shane.
"Wanna hold her?" Rick asked him and Shane looked at the baby. Shane looked at Delilah and she nodded at him to pick her up. Shane carefully took the baby and supported her head with his hand. Shane smiled looking down at the baby in his arms. Rick and Delilah couldn't help but smile too.
"See that wasn't so bad." Delilah said softly, admiring the baby in his arms.
Rick left the baby with them and went outside into the courtyard with Carl. Shane sat and rocked the baby girl in his arms.
"Rick wants you in the baby's life as well." Delilah told him and smiled.
"It's a good thing." Delilah said, rubbing the sleeping baby's cheek with her finger.
"Yeah." Shane quietly agreed.
Delilah sat with them for a few minutes before they heard Carl yell outside.
"Help her!" They heard come from outside. Shane jolted up and gave the baby to Beth. Delilah followed him outside and stopped when she saw the two of them down by the fence. Delilah's eyes adjusted to the sun. Her eyes followed walkers outside the fences and then to a women in the group of walkers with a basket in her hand and holding her leg with her other.
The basket was full of baby formula
