Delilah opened the door to the abandoned house for Shane to enter with his weapon ready. Delilah trailed behind him with her tomahawk in hand. Moving through the old living room and through the kitchen there were no signs of life or death.
Delilah raised her hand and slapped the wall from the bottom of the stairs for any sign of walkers. Silence.

Shane dug through the kitchen cabinets praying to find at least something they could salvage. Nothing. Not even one can. Delilah searched through the bathroom cabinets for any meds they could use personally and keep away from Negan if they could. All she found was a half empty bottle of Tylenol. It was better than nothing these days.

The couple regrouped at the bottom of the stairs. "Any luck?" Shane peered out the window examining the abandoned streets. Delilah held up her bottle the Tylenol and rattled the continents inside. "Just this."

"Well you did better than I did. Kitchen is wiped clean." Shane shrugged his shoulders. Delilah frowned at their luck. They've been out for a week searching for supplies. They were searching neighborhoods from a far town east from Alexandria. If Rick and Aaron didn't show up with anything then they were screwed with the luck they've been having.

The next house down they did their normal routine. Delilah opened the door as the snuck in with weapons ready. This house looked worse than the last one. A horrible stench burned their nose. Delilah cringed and put her wrist up to her nose.

"Well that's pleasant." Shane murmured as they walked through the house. They searched the whole house but didn't find any signs of any walkers that could be making that awful smell.

Shane turned the corner to the kitchen with his wife close behind her. They began ransacking the kitchen with surprisingly no luck. They couldn't find a damn thing. The only thing they managed to scrap up was a few cans of vegetables and a stale box of cereal a couple days ago.

A sudden noise from beneath them made them pause. Something was in the basement. The one level they haven't checked yet. Delilah approached the door to what she figured was the basement and turned the door handle. It was locked.

"Here. Move aside." Shane told his wife while he got ready to kick the door in. With one kick the door flew open. A gust of the horrible smell slapped them in the face. The couple cringing with disgust.

"What the hell?" Delilah coughed and turned her head away from the door. Shane's eyes were watering and did the same.

Shane peered down the stairs with his weapon in his hand. "Stay here." Shane told his wife at the top of the stairs. "No. I'm coming with you," Delilah disobeyed and started waltzing down the stairs with him. "You know I'm not letting you down here by yourself." She whispered.

They crept down the stairs with their weapons in hand. As they got further down the stairs the smell worsened. When they got to the bottom a walker came around the corner and got ahold of Shane. He flinched backward as the walker grabbed ahold of his arms.

Delilah grabbed the back of the walkers shirt trying to pry it off of him. Once she finally gotten ahold of the walker she took her knife and stabbed it in the head. After collecting themselves they looked around the room.

There was a mattress on the floor. A carcass holding a shotgun towards its mouth lied still. Its brains splattered the walls. They glanced at the walker they put down and it looked like it tried to do the same thing but missed, shooting their neck instead.

A bucket lied beside the door knocked over with what looked like feces. "What the hell?" Shane exclaimed examining the scene. Delilah cringed at the scene. She felt sick.

From the other side of the room held two big shelving units. When the couple finally looked that direction it was like god answered their prayers. Cans and cans of food lined the shelves.

"Holy shit are you seeing this?" Delilah skipped to the shelves examining the food that rested on the wooden shelves.

"Yes I am." Shane said with a smirk on his face. Delilah then felt a sudden wave of sadness and guilt. "These poor people." She frowned.

"Yeah...they gave up."

"But they left so much behind."

Delilah picked up one of the cans of food and wiped the dust off of the label. Shane had found a couple of duffle bags and brought them over. They both started fitting as much food as they could in the bags. Delilah even stuffed some in her backpack to keep for the community to hopefully hide for themselves.

Once they finished they realized they couldn't haul these bags back on foot. They needed to find a vehicle. They took the bags up the stairs but before they locked the room back up Delilah covered the couple in blankets. "Thank you." She whispered before leaving them.

They left the duffle bags in the house and left to find a vehicle. They walked down the street and tried multiple cars before they finally got one to start. Before they knew it, it was dark.

They loaded up the duffle bags and other things they found useful in the basement and decided to camp for the night. They started a fire and rested. A weight was lifted off their shoulders. Negan would have what he wanted.

It was a shame they weren't bringing this home for their people. They were bringing it home to a monster that claims he owns everything they do.

The grief was suffocating all of them. There was nothing they could do but they knew one day they would get their revenge and Negan will get what he deserved. They needed to prepare for something much bigger, but for right now they are the bottom of the food chain.

By morning they had to start driving back to Alexandria. The drive home was quiet but sweet. They left their thoughts and that house behind them. Once they arrived the gate opened and they were greeted by Negan's men.
