Later that day Delilah leaned on the porch steps and spaced out. The group all sat at the porch. Everyone was confused. Rick and Hershel were gone, Shane and Dale were gone. Tdog walked up with Andrea.
"Hey you know what's going on?" Tdog asked everyone.
"You haven't seen Rick?" Glenn asked the two of them.
"He went off with Hershel. We were supposed to leave a couple hours ago."Andrea explained.
"Yeah you were. What the hell?" Daryl asked, confused.
"He told us he was going out." Carol tagged along behind him.
"Damn it. Isn't anybody taking this seriously? We got us a damn trail. Oh, here we go." Daryl pointed out Shane coming with a bag of guns.
"What's all this?" Daryl asked, pointing at the guns.
"You with me, man?"Shane asked handing Daryl a gun. They weren't supposed to have guns on the farm. Delilah furrowed her eyebrows when she watched Daryl take the gun out of his hands.
"It's time to grow up." He announced.
"You already got yours?" Shane asked Andrea and she nodded.
"Thought we couldn't carry." Tdog acknowledged.
"We can and we have to. Look, it was one thing sitting around here picking daisies when we though this place was supposed to be safe. But now we know it ain't." Shane went on. Shane continued to pass out guns. When he got to Delilah she just stared at him while he passed her the gun.
"You know this ain't right." Shane advised and Delilah just looked at the gun. She looked at the Greene sisters. Delilah took the gun and the feeling of guilt overwhelmed her.
"Can you shoot?" He then asked Maggie.
"Can you stop? You do this, you hand out these guns, my dad will make you leave tonight." Maggie snapped.
"We have to stay, Shane." Carl walks out with his mother.
"We ain't going anywhere, okay? Now look, Hershel, he's gotta understand. Okay he—well he's gonna have to.now we need to find Sofia. Am I right?" Shane kneeled how in front of Carl and held a gun out. Lori pushed her son back.
"Rick said no guns. This is not your call. This is not your decision to make." Lori said, towering over him.
"Oh shit!" Tdog exclaimed, alarming everyone. Delilah looked over and saw Rick and Hershel coming out of the woods, leading walkers around on snare poles.
"What is that?" Shane started to repeat as he ran. Delilah started to run after him which made everyone else run too.
"Shane, you better stop this now!" Delilah scolded but Shane ignored her.
"What the hell you doing?" Shane yelled. Delilah stopped running once they reached then by the barn.
"Shane, just back off!" Rick yelled, trying to keep the walker he was holding steady.
"Are you kidding me? You see- you see what you're holding onto?"
"I see who I'm holding onto." Hershel snapped back.
"No, man, you don't." Shane denied, pacing around them. Delilah partly agreed with Shane's point. She thought it was wrong to disobey the rules they were given but it was also the safest to carry guns.
"Shane, just let us do this and we can talk." Rick was trying desperately to stop Shane and to stay on the farm.
"What you want to talk about, Rick? These things ain't sick, they're not people, they're dead! Ain't gotta feel nothing for them 'cause all they do, they kill! These things right here. They're the things that killed Amy! They killed Otis! They're gonna kill all of us." Shane continued to pace around them.
"Shane, shut up!" Rick yelled desperately. Daryl kind of pushed Delilah behind him.
"No need for that." Delilah whispered.
"Hey Hershel, man let me ask you something. Could a living, breathing person walk away from this?" Shane took his gun and shot the walker Hershel was holding in the chest.
"That's three rounds in the chest. Could someone who's alive, could they take that?! Why is it still coming?" Shane popped more rounds in the walker.
"That's it heart, it's lungs. Why is it still coming?" Shane popped two more rounds in the walkers chest.
"Shane, enough!" Rick scolded.
"Yeah, you're right, man. That is enough." Shane walked up and shot the walker in the head. Daryl had his gun pointed at the other walker the whole time. Hershel fell to his knees while the walker fell.
"Enough risking our lives for a girl who's gone! Enough living next to a barn full of things that are trying to kill us. Enough! Rick, it ain't like it was before! Now if y'all want to live, if you want to survive, you fight for it! I'm talking about fighting, right here, right now." Shane started to sprint towards the barn. Rick begged hershel to take the snare pole. Hershel was in his own state of shock. Maggie was comforting him.
Shane took a pick axe and starting banging on the locks of the barn. Shane broke the locks with everyone yelling his name and cursing him to stop. He started banging on the open barn to get the walkers attention. The walkers started piling out of the barn. Delilah eyes widened and she looked at the rest of the group and then her gun. Andrea went up beside Shane and started shooting beside him. Daryl did too, and so did Tdog. Delilah stepped up beside her brother and started shooting walkers. Glenn walked up and joined beside her. The guilt filled her veins with every walker she shot.
When all the walkers were down Delilah put her gun down and listened to the sobs of the Greene family. But there was a slight sound coming from the barn. Everyone watched the walker walk out of the barn. Delilah's hand slapped her mouth when Sofia's small body walked out. Carol lunged herself forward screaming for her child. Daryl caught her and held her down to the ground. Delilah kneeled down and hugged the both of them. Rick took his gun out and aimed it at its head.
Delilah hid her head in Daryl's shoulder and shielded herself from looking and waited for the gunshot.
A/n Some of you might disagree but I actually agree with Shane about the barn and the gun carrying. When he opened the barn it made Hershel and his family open their eyes and realize the world is too far gone.
