Zoey lightly knocks on Max's bedroom door. If they had any chances of getting him to accept his other half, it was with Zoey, or at least that's what Damon and Kali thought. She still didn't know too much about their wolves, but Max trusted her, and that was worth more than actually knowing about it all. Besides, if she could convince Max to let Damon help him, then it would give him a better shot at living. Zoey heard slight shuffling on the other side of the door before Max's mop of brown hair opened the door, "Zoey!" He excitedly hugged his new guest.

Zoey hugs the little wolf back, her heart clenching. She couldn't lose him too, "Hey, Maxi. I hear you aren't feeling too good lately. Wanna tell me about it?"

She makes her way to his bed and sits down where Max crawls into her lap, and she wraps her arms around him, "I don't know. I've just been feeling really tired, and I sleep a lot, but I'm still tired."

Zoey holds him close to her body and runs her hands through his hair, "Well... why don't we go outside and get some fresh air. Maybe that will help. We can skip some rocks again. It's been a while since we've done that. Right?" She looks down at him for confirmation.

He quickly raises his head in enthusiasm, "Really?! Yeah. Let's go." He crawls out of her lap and starts dragging her through the maze of a house until they make it to the lake before he stops. The cool breeze through the trees and the small chatter of the animals in the forest made it a perfect place for her and Max to continue their conversation.

He reaches down and starts picking out a rock when Zoey bites her lip, "Max... remember the conversation we had about wolves not being bad?"

He stops doing what he was doing and looks up at her nervously, "Yeah..."

She opens her arms for him, and he slowly makes his way to them without much coercing, "What do you think about what we talked about?"

He keeps his golden eyes down at the ground, "I-I don't know... he's still scary..." he says, referring to the part of him he kept locked away, "H-he keeps trying to come out a-and it scares me... but lately, i-it hasn't been so bad, so I like that."

Damon had told her that keeping their wolf at bay was sometimes like caging a wild animal. They snarl, scratch, and try to bite their way out of the confinements of their mind, but like every other animal, even they get tired of fighting, and when they do, there's not much time left before they disappear entirely.

Zoey sits down on the slightly damp mud beneath her so she can be eye level with him, "He may seem scary, Maxi, but he's just there to help you. Some scary things are just there to help you. Like..." she racks her brain for something he would understand when it hit her, "like Damon. He seems scary, right?" Max nods. He was terrified of him, "He seems scary, but he's just like you, Maxi. Completely cute and sweet." She pinches his cheek to make a point.

Max giggles, "Damon is nice?" The idea didn't seem plausible, but Zoey never lied to him.

She nods, "Absolutely. You know how you cuddle up and sleep with me?" He nods, "Well, Damon does it too." A small smile spreads on his lips at the thought of the big scary man cuddling up in Zoey's arms. She was much smaller than him.

A smile spreads on Zoey's face, "He's like a big teddy bear, and you know what we do with big teddy bears?" Max shakes his head, so Zoey opens her arms and hugs him tightly, "We hug them!"

Max starts laughing, and Zoey's heart melts. She was happy that Max was at least smiling now, "So will you do me a favor and go talk to the big teddy bear for me? He wants to help you not be so scared of the little wolf you have in here." She points to his forehead, "He wants to help you make him your friend. You like making friends. Don't you, Maxi?"
