Zoey stiffens, "Y-you lost your wolf? H-how? I didn't even know that was possible."

Sarah gives her a saddened smile, "It is. Losing our wolf is like losing half of yourself. They keep us alive and well. Without them, we quickly crumble to nothing, and I've slowly lost mine. It's lonely. We grow our whole lives from toddlers always having someone in our corner, watching over us, giving us companionship. So when you lose that person that's a part of you, you're already dead."

A slow breeze makes its way through the room as Zoey stares at her in awe and amazement. She didn't even know that was possible. It makes sense that they would take that to their grave. If T.E.R.A knew, it would be another weakness for them to exploit. Zoey opened her mouth to ask her to explain better what she meant, but Sarah had already shut her eyes by the time she looked up.

Zoey gets up from the chair and slowly lifts the covers over her arms to protect her from the slight breeze better before she goes to the double doors and is about to close them when Sarah speaks up from behind her, "Leave them open."

Zoey jumps a bit from the sudden voice in the room and turns around to face her quickly; she had expected her to be asleep, "Oh, I'm sorry. I just thought that-"

Sarah gives her a warm smile, "It's alright. Thank you for giving me some company this evening."

She nods her head respectfully, "Of course."

Sarah makes fragile movements to remove the silver shimmering crescent moon necklace from around her neck and then holds it out to Zoey, "Here. I'd like you to have it."

Zoey vigorously shakes her head, "It's gorgeous, but I couldn't."

She didn't know why his mother was trying to offer her necklace, but it felt wrong to accept such a gracious gift, especially when she had done nothing to deserve it. She and her son weren't even in any relationship for his mother to be giving her gifts.

Sarah stands her ground in her offer, "I won't take no for an answer. Go on. Take it."

Zoey wanted to protest more, but she thought arguing with her felt even more wrong than accepting it, so she hesitantly made her way to Sarah's bedside and took the necklace from the woman's fragile grasp, "Thank you."

Sarah nods her head, "It's very special. Take care of it for me."

She nods in response, unsure how she should respond before she clasped it around her neck. She twirled the shimmering crescent moon between her fingers, admiring its beauty, "It's beautiful."

"I'm glad you like it. Tell Kali thank you for dinner. I'll eat it in a bit."

Zoey nods and leaves the room shortly after, leaning on the closed door. She didn't know what to make of everything she had just experienced. She found out more about werewolves that she didn't know about before, but now she felt she was getting too close for comfort. It all felt like one big lie.

She sighs, "Why do things have to be so complicated?" She stares out at the cracked room across the way. Curiosity got the better of her. She made her way to the door, opening it to get a better look. It was dark, and there wasn't much she could make out, but a few things were hard not to. There was a white crib in a cream-colored room with bears decorated on the walls. It was a nursery. She looked around the room, seeing a rocking chair, a changing station, and stuffed animals decorating the entire room.

Tears came to her eyes at the scene. How long had this been here? She knew Damon was ready to be a father, but she didn't realize how far it went, and all she had been doing until recently was giving him a hard time at every turn. She couldn't keep focusing on the past and burdening other people with it no matter how much she wanted to fall apart. It was selfish. Things had to change. She had to change.
