Chapter 1

"Devougne, help me please!"

I closed my eyes and sighed heavily. After a few seconds I opened it to only see my twin sister in tears. I looked at her with so much sympathy. I want to help her. I want to do everything I can to help her. But not this one. This is too much.

"Devougre, I can't. It's too much." I almost rolled my eyes.

"Pretty please Vougne, I need your help." she pleaded.

"We can talk to dad about this, Vougre. I know he will forgive you." I told her.

"No! Please Vougne, I've disappointed him already. Ito na nga lang ang hiniling niya pero bibiguin ko na naman siya." umiling siya sa akin kasabay ng pag landas ng kanyang luha.

Napapikit ako sa sakit na nararamdaman. I can't stand seeing her in pain. She is my other half.

"Vougre, what you want me to do is against my moral. You want to obey Daddy but you're asking me to fool him!" I raised my voice.

"I don't know what to do anymore, Vougne. He wants me to marry that man! I don't even know him please. Save me, Vougne. Please let's exchange!" pakiusap niya saka hinawakan ang kamay ko.

Kulang nalang ay lumuhod siya sa harap ko habang nagmamakaawa. Sa totoo lang ay kunting-kunti nalang at mapapa oo niya na ako. Pero pinipigilan ko ang sarili ko. Hindi ko kayang lokohin si mommy at daddy. Hindi ko kayang manloko ng ibang tao!

"Vougre, hindi din yan magtatagal! Malalaman at malalaman ni Daddy pag nagpalit tayong dalawa. He is our Dad, kilalang kilala niya tayo. Mom might help us but you know she cannot lie to Daddy!" madiing wika ko.

"Then you'll tell Dad you're going abroad for work! Please Vougne, I want my freedom back." she cried more.

I sighed before hugging her. Fine, I lost.

"Just promise me you'll be safe." I whispered.

"I promised, Devougne. Thank you!" humagulgol siya.

"I love you, Devougre."

I bit my lower lip thinking about what happened two days ago. I don't know if I made the right decision. Dad will surely be furious if he finds out.

Two days ago, sinabi ko kay Mommy at Daddy na aalis ako for work. At first hindi sila pumayag dahil pwede naman daw akong magtrabaho dito sa pinas. We owned a hospital here. Pinagtataka nila kung bakit kailangan kong pumunta sa ibang bansa. But then I lied over and over again until I convinced them.

Sinabi ko din na ngayong araw ang alis ko. Mas lalo silang nagtaka kung bakit nagmamadali ako. And then another lie came to my mouth. Hindi ko alam kung matatanggap pa ba ako sa itaas dahil sa lahat ng kasinungalingan ko.

But then anything to make my sister happy. Anything for her.

Gusto akong ihatid nila Mommy sa airport pero sinabi ko na wag na. Nagpalusot ulit ako at naniwala naman sila. I just hope na mapatawad nila ako sa lahat ng kasinungalingang ito.

"Are you ready?" Vougre asked.

I looked at her.

Gusto kong umatras at biguin siya pero hindi ko kayang alisin ang matamis niyang ngiti. Bumuntong hininga ako bago tumango sakanya.

"Wag mong kalimutan ang napag usapan natin, Vougre. Hindi magtatagal at magtataka sila Mommy at Daddy. Kung dumating man ang araw na 'yon, sana handa kang harapin sila at magsabi ng totoo." pakiusap ko.

"I promise, Vougne. I just really need time for myself." she whispered.

"Okay then." tumango ako.

"Take care of my patient ha. And please smile often Vougne, baka magtaka sila kung bakit laging nakabusangot ang masayahing si Devougre." ngumiwi siya.
