Each of Demetri's limbs were sore after training, so the best thing he could think of to do when he got home was take a shower and sit back to play video games in order to decompress. The TV screen was alight with vibrant animation and the room was filled with tranquil music that was fit for any quest. His thumbs toggled and pressed the buttons with the precision he wished he had in karate, but alas his skillset was simply better in other places. If only he could copy and paste it from one area of expertise to the next.

Aside from the music and occasional clash of swords, the house was otherwise quiet. His mom had left to go to a girls night with some friends from work, so Demetri had the place to himself. He didn't really mind. He could tell that she needed a night out from time to time, so one night on his own wasn't going to hurt. It actually felt nice to have a night to himself.

Sometimes. In the last few months, it had become a little lonely. On nights like this, Eli would have come over to keep him company. Since they became friends but before karate completely took over the Valley, Miguel would have joined. Now it was just him, but he tried not to think about it. Instead, he sat back and played his little fantasy game, because he knew how to deal with the enemies there better than he knew how to deal with real life change.

The doorbell rang and he pressed the pause button, his character freezing in place. There was a flying bug-like creature - an enemy he had to defeat - in frame, ready to attack. However, it would have to wait. It had no other choice.

Demetri stood up, laying the controller on the couch cushion. He had no idea who would be at the door, especially in the evening, but he expected to come back to his game almost as soon as he opened the door. They probably had the wrong house.

When he opened the door, he was shocked to find that they probably didn't have the wrong house.

Frankie stood in front of him, wrapped up in a flannel and wearing a pair of short shorts. She looked up at him, partially backlit by the setting sun and illuminated from the front by the dim light beside his door. Her eyes looked like they'd been dipped in honey, but were still hard as amber.

"Frankie, what are you doing here?" he asked, his voice almost getting caught in his throat. He took her in from head to toe, noticing she had walked over barefoot, and had to ask himself why she would do that. Why would she even come over? As he brought his eyes back to her face, they lingered and dragged up her smooth legs.

"Do you wanna play a game?"

He had a feeling she wasn't talking about video games.

"Um, sure."

She stepped inside before he could move aside to give her the room. He shut and locked the door before he turned to face her, at which point he felt her hand on his chest. She clutched his shirt in her fist and pulled him down, smashing their lips together. It sent a shockwave through him. He was hunched over a little uncomfortably, but that was overshadowed by the softness of her lips and ironclad grip she had.

He couldn't kiss back. He didn't know how, but also because he felt frozen in place and couldn't move. His arms were frigid and wouldn't move, stuck at his sides even though he knew they should be on her, holding her in some way.

As she pulled away, he expected to see disappointment, but all he saw was her burning eyes and a smirk. She stared up at him, not saying a word.

He sputtered, "I-I'm sorry. I don't- I don't know what I'm doing."

He knew what he should be doing, but his body didn't know the motions. His lips had never kissed another's, his hands didn't know the feeling of holding someone like that. All his knowledge of movies and comics became useless, his brain having turned to mush as he tried to rake through it for any idea of what he was supposed to do next.
