Demetri kept a positive outlook on things as he held the notebook with all the terms and conditions that everyone had about the former Cobras joining Miyagi-Do. Though part of him felt exasperated already, there was still a lot that needed to be worked on. Nevertheless, he felt alright about where they were now, an agreement that Mitch and Bert agreed to join them, even going as far as promising to talk the other former Cobras into joining them. And surprisingly, it was all thanks to Frankie.
With Miguel and Sam on either side of him, he felt even better about moving forward. The table full of people in front of him, old and new teammates, wasn't so intimidating. They were all friends now, at least he hoped they'd all be soon.
"Okay, so we all agree that training will still take place at Miyagi-Do," he said, looking at the list he'd written down. He'd taken the role of scribe since no one else seemed to be privy to it, most everyone else arguing about their conditions. "However, we're deadlocked in making a new dojo name, new gi designs, post-training snacks, and the inevitable Sensei Dispute Resolution Protocol."
Since the old Cobras were dead set on continuing to learn karate their way, they'd asked for one thing: a co-sensei. Specifically, they wanted Sensei Lawrence to come back to teaching karate, something he'd been turned off from since Miguel honorarily joined Miyagi-Do. Miguel was sure he could convince, or bribe, the former Sensei into coming back, and how that would work out was yet to be seen, but just in case it did work out in the favor of having a second sensei, the teens were already working on a dispute resolution protocol because they were all well aware of the tension between Johnny Lawrence and Mr. LaRusso.
He set the notebook down and sighed. "Okay, it's not good, but hey! It's a start!"
Frankie, who sat on the opposite end of the table eating more cookies, made a snarky remark. "It's a terrible start. Get good."
From beside her, Penelope lightly hit her arm and gave her a pleading look that screamed, Please cooperate.
Then, a strange noise came from outside. It sounded like a cat but it was a little off. It sounded like a really old cat that meows like an old lady. It scratched at the door, gathering everyone's attention.
"Aww, your cat wants to come in," Bert said, standing from his seat. He walked over to the back door, intent on letting the little creature in. "Here, kitty kitty."
Miguel looked at Sam. "I didn't know you had a cat."
"We don't," she said, just as confused.
Suddenly, Bert came flying through the kitchen window and landed in a pile of shattered glass. On the opposite end of the table, Frankie used her arms to cover her head from the flying shards before Penelope pulled her up by the arm and moved them away from the damage and mess on the floor. As soon as they were out of the way of the carnage and perceived danger, Frankie started pulling glass out of her hair.
No matter who was outside, Demetri felt immense anger toward them. He rushed over to Frankie and Penelope, who were joined by Robby, while everyone else went to check on Bert.
"Are you okay?" he asked her, checking her over for any cuts from any flying glass.
She swatted his hand away with a huff. "I'm fine."
"Bert, what happened?" Miguel asked loudly, in shock.
Bert looked up, face bloodied. "No cat."
A quiver of Cobras came through the open door, fanning out to show their numbers. Leading them was Hawk, whom Demetri hoped hadn't thrown Bert through the window. His thoughts were racing so fast, he couldn't comprehend all that was happening. His one stationary thought was Frankie and - no matter how much she was going to hate it - protecting her from the clear attack that was happening.
