I'll Never Forget You

I woke up after a long night of tossing and turning. I rolled over my eyes barely open to check the time on my alarm clock. Peering through I glanced at it sitting on the side of my nightstand.

9:46 am it read, " Ugh" I groaned. I was suppose to be helping Bonnies dad Mayor Hopkins set up for the Fun In The Sun festival. I was literally dragging my feet not because I didn't want to help but because  of the lack of sleep i got last night. I still couldn't get Klaus's voice out of my head.

He always knew what to say to get my mind churning. I grabbed my phone to check my text messages and to send a message to Elena that I'd be right there to help set things up. 5 missed calls from Elena, 3 text messages also from her, 1 from Damon that read "Blondie answer your phone unless you're in New Orleans already 😉"

I scoffed at it, then there was one message that stopped me dead in my tracks, it was from Klaus. I was hesitant to open it and read the full message.  I had things to do and I didn't want my thoughts clouded even more than they already were today. Ill read it later i thought to myself. I got ready, got dressed in the cutest pair of  jeans and a spaghetti tank top that flowed near the bottom. I ran to the kitchen to grab some coffee because I would be needing it.

"Hey Sweetie" my mom peeked her head from the around the cabinet. "Coffee?" She asked.
"Yesssss pleeease!" With excitement. I loved the smell of fresh coffee in the morning. It filled the whole house up.

"Thanks mom" as I kissed her on the cheek.
"Will you be home for dinner?" She questioned
"You aren't working tonight?" I said surprised.
"No im off" she smiled. I nodded my head yes with a smile and headed out. I dialed Elenas number before getting into my moms car.

"Care where are you? You were suppose to be here at 7:00 am."
"I know I know I'm sorry, I didnt get much sleep last night , Im sorry" i sighed. "Im on my way though right now"
"Hurry Care, I'll see you in a bit" Elena replied.

I hurried to the town-square where the event was taking place. The square was bustling with people, and vendors were set up all along the yard. I made my way towards Elena who was directing some movers over to the vegetable stands.

"Elena!" I called over to her. She turned and made her way towards me ... she looked stressed which I wouldn't blame her. I felt guilty for not being here on time earlier.
"Care, hey we dont have much time. Everything is ready to go but" ... as she was about to finish Mayor Hopkins interrupted.
"Ladies thank you so much for all your help this looks great" he smiled

I nervously smiled back knowing all too well I didnt help. Elena just shot me a look and smiled shaking her head in amusement.
"We have a problem though, one of the girls who volunteered to be in our kissing booth for donations bailed." He said.

As I was about to say "that blows" Damon chimed in cutting his way in the middle of Elena and I.
"Caroline should do it, she loves charity and ill have you know she's the reigning Miss Mystic Falls, real crowd drawer" nudging me with that mischievous smile.

"That would be great" Mayor Hopkins agreed. "The booth is off to the left by the lemonade stand, Is that ok?" He asked. Probably seeing the mortified look on my face.
"Surrrrrre" I reluctantly spat out.
"Great! Thank you Caroline" he walked off to tend to the other booths.
"Great now i have to kiss every man in Mystic Falls, how could you Damon"
"Look you are doing your civic duty to Mystic Falls and you were late, think of this as wiping the slate clean... right Elena" as he turned towards her.

"He has a point Care" she said laughing amused by what was about to happen.
"You guys owe me big time" I said as I made my way to the booth.

The festival was going to be starting soon and people were parking and making their way towards the square. I freshened up and asked one of the workers how long I was going to have to be at the kissing booth. "Excuse me, Hi um how long will I have to be actually kissing people?" I asked.
"Oh you will be taking turns with the other two girls" she exclaimed.
"Oh thank god" I let out a sigh of relief before realizing she was still standing there. "What I ment to say was great" smiling at her.

"Well you better get going your first" she excitedly replied. My smile left my face .....First..... i thought , well here we go.

I sat in the chair they placed in the center a nervous wreck. The line was growing by the minute. A worker walked by me to ask if I needed anything before starting.
"Alcohol and a mint" I replied. She obviously didnt find my sarcasm funny. "There's no tongue involved correct?" Hoping she would say no.
She laughed "This is for charity not The Bachelor" she said. While I found that hilarious we were beginning.

The first guy walked up putting his money into the jar and excitedly sat down in front of me.
"Hi I'm John nice to meet you! Ive never kissed a beauty queen before"
I tensely smiled , he was shorter than I was T-shirt khaki shorts with glasses. He leaned in and planted the biggest kiss with no hesitation.

I sat there eyes wide opened waiting for the 3 seconds to go by. He pulled away eyes closed and smiled "Wow..." he said.
"Okayyy Next!" I replied cringing. One by one kiss after kiss I made my through the line till my time was up. The next girl tapped me on the shoulder to switch out. I breathed a sigh of relief because i was finished.

I walked to the back behind the backdrop of the booth ready to disinfect my mouth.
"Way to go Blondie you were a hit with the locals" Damon teased.
"Ha ha very funny this was all your idea you know" annoyed with Damon I grabbed a wipe and tried fixing myself up.

"Wheres Elena? I asked Damon.
" She's with WonderBoy looking around" he said sharply.
"Ill have to go look for her" I said as I was walking away when a worker stopped me.

"Hi sorry to bother you but you have been requested back at the kissing booth" she replied.
"What? No im finished I did my part already" with a paranoid look on my face.
"I understand but we have a big donor that just donated alot of money and he specifically asked for you" she insisted.
"For charityyyyyy Caroline" Damon sang.
"Ugh fine" I walked back out and sat down.

Walking up from around the curtain was Klaus. Standing there with this devilish smirk on his face.
"You have got to be kidding me" I shouted.
"Well don't seem so surprised love, I left you a message stating that I was going to be arriving in Mystic Falls today" he smiled.
"Well I didn't read it obviously" as I folded my arms.
"Shall we" he flirtatiously grinned as he sat down.
I sat up forward leaning up off the back of the chair. I dont know why I was nervous, my leg was shaking up and down.

He extended his hand out and placed it on the side of my leg calmly and gently. His eyes never left me, he leaned in slowly and stopped for a second. Gazing into my eyes then slowly tracing his way with them to my lips. I could feel my heart beat increase, I know he could as well. With the slightest touch on my chin with the tip of his finger his lips pressed against mine. It was tender and sent a shock through my body. I opened my eyes slowly as he released from me just a bit. His eyes meeting mine ,
"Ca valait chaque centime" he whispered in french
"What does that mean" I quietly replied.....
"That was worth every penny" he smiled.
