I'll Never Forget You

A THOUSAND MILES

I walked into the house to set my things down.
"Mom?" I called out
"Back so soon" she came from the living room.
"Yeaaaa I volunteered for the kissing booth because someone bailed" I groaned.
"Well that was nice, raise a lot of money? She asked.
I smiled at her " Yea we actually did" Even though Klaus donated and matched more than half the total amount I thought in my mind.

"Well dinner will be ready around 6:00 ok" she yelled as I made my way to my room. I shut the door and sat on my bed before realizing I needed my phone. I grabbed it off the dresser  to check the messages Klaus had left me since I had time.

"Caroline I'll be in Mystic Falls today, Id love for you to join me for food and to discuss some things, I'll be seeing you soon love"
I guess I should have read it then maybe I wouldn't have been so caught off guard. I went to my vanity where my purse was and pulled out the box. I sat down and opened it , it was silver with diamonds on the horseshoe. I traced my fingers over it feeling each groove I felt so special in that moment. No one ever took the time to want to get to know me, let alone remember things about me. I was always a Plan B or an option.

I removed the necklace and stared in the mirror, to try it on.
"Need help there love" Klaus said standing behind me.
Startled I turned around fast. "What are you doing in here! My moms going to kill you!"
He laughed and said "I am immortal you know."
"You know what I mean Klaus"

Just then a knock at the door "Caroline is everything alright?" My mom said as she opened the door. "I thought I heard arguing"
"Oh yea," I paused "it was Tyler" My eyes tracing the room wondering where the hell Klaus went.
"Honey look I know its not my place but maybe its time to move on from Tyler. You are young, beautiful and have your whole life a head of you, you dont need to waste it arguing with someone who frankly hasn't even been here. I just want you to be happy"

"I know mom .... Everything is ok , I promise" I said trying not to tear up from her words. She shut the door and I looked around, then under my bed.
"I like your mum" Klaus said intrigued. "Shes very intelligent" as he walked towards me.
"Where the hell did you go?" I whispered.
"The same entrance I came in" he held out his hand towards the window.
"Ill remind myself to lock it now" I sarcastically said.

I walked over to my vanity but was pulled by the hand into him. I swallowed hard as my hands brushed up onto his chest. My eyes locked with his, I could feel his breath up against mine. He said nothing, his nose skimmed against mine ever so slowly.... Like he was memorizing every inch of me.

"I can't" I pulled away. "Im still with Tyler" turning away from him.
"Do you think Tyler would say the same for you Caroline" his voice filled with anger. "Where is he now, perhaps his attention or presence is needed elsewhere. Have I not shown you kindness Caroline?

"Klaus please, you think you're gonna come in here say a few lines, give me a few gifts and all is well in the world of Klaus Mikaelson.

"No love, but I have been at your beckon call, put you above all else, It was always for you Caroline.." His eyes glazed over clenching his jaw.
I couldn't even look at him because I could see the hurt in his eyes.
"Ill leave you be," he said putting his head down about to sped off.
"Wait!" I said pausing , I walked over towards him putting my hand against his cheek. "I know..." I said softly. He looked at me and vamp sped back out the window.

Dinner was almost ready, my mom And I talked the whole time about work and my future plans as I helped her set up the table. This is the perfect time to bring up Bonnie.
"Sooo I was thinking you know with all the Tyler drama and all Id visit Bonnie for the summer to take my mind off things, have some fun ya know" I said hoping she'd take the bait.
"I think thats a great idea Caroline" she smiled.
"Great" I winced, i had this awful pit in my stomach for lying to her.

Well that was easy I thought, pulling out my phone to send a text to Klaus to let him know his Bonnie plan worked.
He replied quickly " I'll see you soon love"
I smiled at my phone.
"Who has you smiling like that" my mom said teasingly.
I didn't realize she was watching. "Elena mom , she was telling me something funny."
" Uh huhhhh I know that look, did Tyler make up with you."
"Yea mom, I cant get anything past you."
We finished our conversation and ate dinner. We watched a movie but I was feeling tired so I excused myself to my room.

I decided to call Elena and let her know that I was going to New Orleans.
"Hey Care whats up," she answered.
"I decided to take up his offer, I'm going to New Orleans for the summer" apart of me was excited. A new place a new adventure a chance at something different.
"Thats great Care, when do you leave?"
"Welllllll im going to text him and ask if I can go this week."
"Wow so soon ." She said surprised.
"Might as well... tell Damon I'll send him some beignets." I laughed.
"Ok Caroline, be safe and I will talk to you soon."

We hung up and I texted Klaus. "Hi can I go this upcoming week to New Orleans?"
He replied swiftly "Im sure I can make some arrangements , notify me of a time and date and I will book your first class ticket."
I smiled and typed "Monday morning around 8am."

I sat my phone down and jumped up on my bed with excitement. Im going to New Orleans!!!" I quietly screamed. Some time had passed and my phone vibrated, I checked and opened the text. Klaus it read, and it said "Done ❤️"
I replied "Thank you"
I could see him typing back .... " I cant wait to show you the city Caroline, Ill be waiting at the airport to pick you up"
"Ok" I replied "cant wait"
I threw myself back onto my bed with a sigh of relief and excitement. NEW ORLEANS HERE I COME...
