A couple days went by and arrangements were made for Carolines funeral. The service was to be held at St. Anne's Church where father Kieran headed.

Hayley walked over to Elijah "Have you talked to him..."

"No...only for Carolines services." Elijah replied sadly.

She began to try and offer some type of comfort "We all miss her Elijah and I cant even begin to imagine his pain. He needs you even if he pretends that he doesn't, you're his brother, his confidant."

Elijah pulled Hayley close and kissed her forehead before leaving upstairs to Klaus's room. He stopped in front of the door and took a deep breath before knocking. There was no answer so he turned the knob and pushed it open slowly. There he saw Klaus sitting by the fireplace on the sofa with his head down, drink in hand.

He approached him cautiously and sat next to him as the fireplace crackled. "If you're here to give me words of encouragement do not waste your time." Klaus drunkly said.

"I'm simply just here Niklaus."

Klaus looked at his brother then took another swig of his drink.

"The Salvatores , her mother and friends will arrive tomorrow before her services." Elijah uttered trying to stay strong and stoic for his younger brother.

Klaus got up to fill his glass again "I failed her Elijah, her and her mother." Klaus was fighting back from feeling the pain.

Elijah stood up and walked over to him "Brother do not carry this, this burden it is far to heavy even for you...This is fathers doing." Placing his hand on his shoulder.

Klaus turned to face him "And if I had just simply let her go and didn't give into my deepest desires she would be here today. So please brother... spare me the lecture on what burdens to carry. I made a promise to her mother and I broke that promise." A single tear streamed down Klaus's cheek as Elijah stepped forward.

"Dont!" Klaus shouted. "This is a direct result of the beast that I have become. The bastard son with a thousand enemies, an eternity in hell would be far more enjoyable than the constant torment I have lived these past few days."

"I am here for you Niklaus, what do you want? You want to sit in silence I will sit."

Klaus was pacing around back and forth then reached into a drawer pulling out a white oak stake. "I want to die Elijah!" As he turned the stake to his chest in tears.

"Brother please, I am begging death is not the answer. You have Hope still." He walked up to Klaus timidly trying not to provoke him.

"She's better off without me Elijah! I want to end this! All of it!"

"And what of your family Niklaus? Rebekah, Kol, me.... The pain you would unleash onto us. Hope loves you, we love you." Elijah reached to grab the stake from his brothers chest gently . Tears flowed down Klaus's face as he stayed still, Elijah took the stake away slowly and placed it down before pulling his brother into a hug.

Klaus broke down "I love her Elijah...."

"I know brother... I know." He comforted him. "You will honor Caroline and your son Henrik by being the man and father we all know you to be. Carolines death will not be in vain. They will fall, by your hand or mine." Elijah promised.

Morning came and it was the day for Carolines services. It was a small ceremony for her close friends and family, Damon exited a black expedition along with Elena, Bonnie, Stefan, Matt and Liz.

Stefan came around to Liz Forbes "We're here for you." He said softly tearing up.

"How am I suppose to bury my baby Stefan." She cried.
