The Roma tomato is a plum tomato popularly used both for canning and producing tomato paste. Their dense, meaty flesh, and low moisture content makes them ideal for sauces and pastes. This type of tomato shares its name with a 2018 Oscar winning film written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón. At the 91st Academy Awards, Roma received 10 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actress. It became the first Mexican entry to win Best Foreign Language Film, and also won for Best Cinematography and Best Director.
