A quintet is a group of five musicians. It's most usually linked with musical groupings like string quintets or groups of five vocalists, but it may be used to any circumstance in which five comparable or related elements are regarded a single entity.
A musical ensemble, also known as a music group or musical group, is a collection of persons who play instrumental or vocal music, usually under the name of the ensemble. Some music groups, such as a jazz quartet or an orchestra, are made up entirely of instruments. Choirs and doo wop groups, for example, are entirely made up of vocalists. There are groups that perform both instrumentalists and vocalists in both popular and classical music, such as the rock band or the Baroque chamber group for basso continuo (harpsichord and cello) and one or more singers.
Any extra instrument (such as a piano, clarinet, oboe, etc.) added to the traditional string quartet (two violins, a viola, and a cello) lends the resulting ensemble its name, such as "piano quintet," "clarinet quintet," and so on, in classical instrumental music. A piece of music composed for such a group is also known by that name.
A normal wind quintet has one performer on each of the flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and horn, whereas a standard brass quintet includes two trumpets, horn, trombone, and tuba. Other combinations, on the other hand, are occasionally discovered.
