A supernova is a powerful and luminous explosion of a star. This cataclysmic event occurs when a star depletes its nuclear fuel and can no longer withstand the force of gravity compressing its core. As a result, the star's core collapses under the immense pressure, unleashing an extraordinary burst of energy. According to NASA, a supernova is the largest known explosion in space. The last recorded supernova in the Milky Way occurred in 1604, known as Kepler's Supernova, and remained visible to the naked eye for an astounding 18 months.
