Benjamin Franklin had a limited formal education, which ended when he was just ten years old. He briefly attended Boston's Latin School until his parents could no longer afford to pay for his education. Despite his success at the Boston Latin School, Franklin dropped out of school at the age of ten to work full-time in his father's candle and soap store. Although Ben was denied a traditional education, he loved to read and taught himself to become a skilled writer. With only two years of formal education, he went on to become an accomplished inventor, diplomat, statesman, and Founding Father of the United States.
