Three years later,
Bucky and Steve were now 14, and about to go into the 8th grade. Sarah was at the elementary school for a meeting concerning Maxie who was 11 now.
"Okay we just wanted to let you know Ms Reynolds that your daughter is going to be skipping 5th grade and going on to the middle school this fall. Her test scores are showing that she has tested out of 5th grade levels." Mrs Humphrey said
"Great job Maxie." Sarah said as she read her scores.
"So you will need to enroll her at the middle school." Mrs Humphrey said
"We will definitely do that." Sarah said
"Okay that is all we needed to discuss. You may go back to class Maxie." Mrs Humphrey said
Sarah said goodbye to her daughter, and left to head to work. When she was erasing a surgery off the surgical board. James came up behind her,
"There you are, I was looking for you this morñing." He said
"You were? Why?" She said
"Well first I needed a scrub nurse, and two I was going to ask if you would like to have dinner with me?" He said
"Like a date?" She said
"Yes like a date." He said
She bit her lip, and said "Yes. I would like that." She said
"Great, I am off Saturday the only thing I have to do is drop off and pick up James Buchanan and his date to the end of the school year dance." He said
"He has a date? Is it going to turn out to be like you and Winnie were." Sarah said
James let out a laugh, "I dont know he just started to say he has his first girlfriend." James said
"Thats so sweet." She said as they walked together.
That Saturday night, James and Sarah had their first date. He took her to dinner and they danced outside the school while they waited. They picked up both boys together, when James brought her and Steve home.
Maxie came out on the porch, "Hi Bucky..did you have fun?" Maxie said
He waved her before getting back in the car. "Whose the girl Steve?" Maxie said
"His girlfriend.." Steve said as he went inside.
James and Sarah shared a kissed goodnight.
