"So... You're not going to, like... Die?"

Marvin squinted at Yan, who looked back at him with a slightly concerned expression. "Why am I gonna die?!" "Well... You disobeyed and tricked your leader... It has to at least be SCARY working for a dark ego, why would you take that risk?" Sean piped up.

"Oh, you guys are FUNNY! Leader? Sure. Scary? That pushover? Hell no! Dad's probably going to scold me if he finds out... Or maybe just straight out ground me. But he won't KILL me! What crazy world are you guys living in?" Yan giggled seemingly just at the thought. His eyes shone with genuine happiness... He wasn't lying.

"Wait, wait, wait... You LIED to your FATHER to sneak out here and meet up with people he doesn't trust?" Chase snarled, worry shining in his eyes as his Dad-Mode activated. "I knew it! Dark surely would be a great father!" JJ chuckled, Robbie nodding slowly in agreement. "That's... Strangely adorable." Marvin muttered, finally releasing the spell on Jackie.

"Vait! How long has it been zince he came outside?" Henrik, too, had a Dad-Mode, and he knew what would happen if Yan was away for too long. "Uhhh... Yeah, I should get going. See you later! Bye~!" Yan rushed inside, only to forget not to use the front entrance. "Ooh... He's caught." Jackie hissed, wincing as the younger ego was grabbed by the collar of the shirt and dragged off by Dark.

Before they returned inside, however, Dark threw a glare over his shoulder. The older ego kept the teenager close defensively, "Don't you DARE do that again." "I'm FINE! They're really nice! Especially that Jackie guy!" Yan rolled his eyes at his adoptive father.

To say the least, Dark was overprotective.

But for good reason.

"What happened to Dark to make him have trust issues like this? Does that man even trust HIMSELF?" Marvin grumbled as they all piled into Henrik's vehicle. "Hush, child! Don't be disrespectful!" Henrik growled, adjusting the rearview mirror. "Yeah, I'm sure he has good reason." Gab cut in calmly.

"He does."

Everyone turned to Chase, who had a certain look in his eyes... "He had EVERYTHING stripped from him... By the person he trusted most. Family... Friends... LIFE... Even his will to live. All Dark was living for was revenge for a while... Now, while he's still out to kill that bastard... He has more to care for... LIVE for... He's not willing to take any risks."

The father knew how Dark felt... But even he knew that no one's pain could ever amount to the dark ego's.

"That's... Depressing. How do you know this?" Sean was a bit concerned about Chase's heavy knowledge in depressing things. "Did you ACTUALLY watch that stream explaining Who Killed Markiplier? Watching depressing shite won't make you feel better, Chase- it'll make you feel worse!"

Chase ignored the creator, looking at the window. His eyes sparkled with sadness and pity, tears pricking the corners. How could they all be so nonchalant and careless about their fellow ego's past? It was horrible! And they're just going to brush it off just like that?

Chase Brody remembered very well when he had gone through so much shit and tried to kill himself. They all cared then, helping him and feeling for him. It hurt his heart to see them laughing and playing around after finding out about Dark's past experiences, which were far worse than his ever could've ever been. Did they really not care just because the older ego was wary of them?

He was so lost in his thoughts, he didn't feel himself fall asleep.
