Bad Reputation: A Bad Batch Fanfiction Story

"Y/N, wake up!"

You're jolted awake by Omega. "What..." you say groggily. "C'mon, we're going to Saleucami!" She responds. You wait until she leaves and close the door so you can change. Hunter is already out of the room. After you get ready, you walk into the hull the ship. "Morning." You say to everyone. "Good morning." Hunter says, smiling. You look over to Wrecker and Omega. You see Omega holding Wrecker's stuffed animal. You feel your cheeks flush. She's not really even part of this squad. She just joined. Wrecker's just giving that to her? You think, anger rising in you. "Y/N, Omega, listen up." Hunter says. Omega comes over beside you next to Hunter. "Now. I think this should be a visit without any trouble. But just in case.. just- be careful, okay?" Hunter says. You both nod. Hunter goes and chats with the rest of the squad. Omega turns to you. "I wonder what it'll be like there." She says. "I dunno." You reply, your tone a bit cold. "So... you're Hunter's daughter, right?" She asks. "Yeah. Why do you ask?" You reply. "Well... I noticed that your mother isn't here... where is she?" You grit your teeth. "She's part of the Jedi Order. She's helping them..." Omega looks at you. "A Jedi? Wow! Can we go see her?" she asks. "No. We don't know where she is." You say. "Does she-" Omega continues. "Just- stop. Please stop asking me about her, okay? I don't even remember her." You interrupt, tears forming in your eyes. "Oh, sorry!" She says. You walk away, trying to forget what Omega asked.

Once the ship lands on Saleucami, you exit the ship, staying close to Hunter. "You alright kid?" He says, looking down at you. Your face is a bit red from crying earlier. "Yeah, fine." You respond quietly. You all walk to a small rural area where a house sits near a small forest. The afternoon sun shines on all of you. Hunter knocks on the door of the house. A man lets you in. He looks similar to the rest of The Bad Batch, but his face is wrinkled and tired. "Cut." Hunter says to him. "If it isn't Clone Force 99." The man laughs. You all walk inside and see a woman who is a twi'lek and two children. The kids come over to Wrecker and exclaim, "Uncle Wrecker!" You haven't met Cut and Suu before, but it seems The Bad Batch definitely has. "Where's Crosshair?" Cut asks Hunter. Hunter pauses, then says, "He... he's with the Empire.." Cut nods. "And the kids?" He says. "This is Y/N. You remember my wife?" Hunter says. "She and I had Y/N about ten years ago. I know it's been a while. Her mother is working with the Jedi. Well, remaining Jedi, I guess..." He continues. "The other one is Omega. She's a modified clone. The Empire was after her, so she's with us now." Cut looks at the both of you. "A clone you say?" He says, examining Omega's face. He looks at you. "You have your mother's eyes." He says, smiling. You smile, imagining what she was like. Hunter has told you before, but you have a clearer image now. Cut and Suu's children run over to Cut. "Dad! Can we go play outside?" The boy says. "Sure." Cut responds. The kids look at you, gesturing for you to come outside. "Come on!" You and Omega look hesitantly at Hunter. He smiles and nods. You follow the children outside. They pick up a ball. "Let's play!" 

"Err.. how do I do this?" Omega says, looking at the ball next to her feet. "It's easy!" The girl says. "Just kick it, like this!" Omega does so. "And.. what's the point of this?" She says. "For fun!" The boy exclaims. You sigh. "Have you seriously never done this before?" You say. "Not really. I didn't do this sort of thing on Kamino." She says.  You all continue to play for a while until Omega kicks the ball into the forest nearby. "I'll get it!" She says, running towards the trees. "Wait, Omega, no!" The girl says. The kids race inside the house and you follow. "Mom! Dad!" The boy says. "Omega went past the fence!" Cut and Suu run outside near the forest, Hunter following. "Stay. Here." He says. You nervously watch as a creature surrounds Omega, snarling. Hunter runs over and slashes it with his knife. It runs away. Omega walks over to you and Hunter follows. "What were you thinking?" Hunter says, raising his voice. "You could've gotten yourself killed!" Omega turns her face away from him. "Hunter. She's a child. Not a soldier." Cut intervenes. Hunter's face looks guilty as he sees Omega. "S-sorry, kid." He says. 

Soon after, all of you head into the house. "I think Omega should stay with you all. It's too dangerous for her to be staying with us." Hunter says. "Wait, Hunter-" Omega says. "Alright. We're leaving Saleucami soon, but there's a problem. We can take her with us, but the Empire has changed their system for getting chain codes to leave." Cut says. "Alright. We can figure this out. We'll help you." Hunter says. You look around the room. Tech, Echo, and Omega aren't there. You see the Marauder being seized by am Imperial ship. "You did what?!" Hunter says to Tech, seeing the ship. He presses the button on his comm-link. "Tech..." He says angrily. "This was the simplest solution." Tech says calmly. "Getting our ship impounded was not my idea of a solution!" Hunter says. "We'll meet you at the space port with the chain codes. I have this under control." Tech responds. "There's one big problem." Hunter continues. "Omega's on the ship!"

The rest of you walk to the space port in silence. Hunter's face is frustrated. Once you arrive, Hunter says into his comm-link, "Tech, we're in the space-port. What's your status?" Tech replies, "In progress. The encryption shouldn't be a problem." You all continue to walk, then Hunter says to Tech, "Hurry up. We need those chain codes to get them on the shuttle, or we're gonna have to blast our way out of here." Tech calmly says, "Don't worry. I can slip through security unnoticed and deliver the disks to you momentarily." Omega meets you all at the dock a bit after. She brings the chain codes. Hunter explains to her that she has to go. Omega says that she wants to stay with you all. You watch her leave. Part of you is sad almost. You leave with Hunter. You hide behind some crates and watch as the squad takes out the Imperial troopers. "Y/N. Stay behind those crates. Don't move." Echo says to you. Wrecker removes the clamp from the ship and you all start to enter the ship. "Wait, Omega isn't here!" Wrecker says. "Wrecker, she's not-" Hunter starts. "Wait for me!" You hear Omega exclaim. You see her get caught by the legs by an Imperial trooper. Hunter shoots the troopers going after her. You all finally enter the ship and take off.

Wrecker lifts Gonky in the hull of the ship. You watch from behind a doorway and see Omega talking to Hunter. "This is where I want to be." Omega says. "Well, if this is where you want to be..." Hunter says. "Then this is where you'll stay." You feel jealous. Hunter's been treating Omega like his kid. I'm his kid. Omega isn't. You think. You go back into your room for a while, looking at the photos on the wall of you and The Bad Batch. Hunter walks in. "Hey. I saw you watching us from behind that doorway, you know." He says. You avert your eyes from him. "Sorry... It's just that- I'm not used to her being around. I've always been your kid, and now it's like she's your kid too. I guess I feel jealous or something." You say. He sits on the bed next to you. "I know. All of this is new to me too. I know it feels like we're giving her all the attention right now. But you are my daughter, Y/N. Omega's part of this squad now, but you'll always be my child. I love you." He says softly. "I love you too." You say. "Now, it's been a long day. Get some sleep." He says. "But Dad-" You say stubbornly. "No. Go to bed." He says firmly. You can't really win an argument against Hunter. Yep, he's definitely still my Dad. You think, laughing.
