*I thought it would be cool to have a chapter where Y/N trains how Anakin trained Ahsoka in Tales of the Jedi. Hope you enjoy!*
You're in your room, practicing training with your lightsaber. The ship is on Ord Mantell after a mission. Tech made a little flying device that shoots blaster fires at you so you can practice deflecting the shots. Echo walks into your room and sees you training.
"Hey, Y/N." He greets you.
"Hi. I'm just training- ow!" You wince after getting fired at.
"Sorry. I don't mean to distract you." He continues.
"No, it's okay. I need to learn to be able to multitask." You say, continuing to practice.
Echo pauses for a moment, then says, "Here. I have an idea. Follow me."
You manage to exit the room without getting shot, and the device turns off.
He gestures for Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, and Crosshair to come with you all.. "I'm going to do a training exercise with Y/N. I need all of your help."
The rest of the squad follows you two. This seems very sudden, and you aren't sure what to expect. You assume it'll be some sort of training exercise with a blaster. You all follow Echo into the forest on Ord Mantell. You recognize it from your previous training with your mother.
"What are we doing?" You ask.
"I'll explain soon." Echo responds.
He stops and turns around to look at all of you. "Y/N, stay there. The rest of you: make a circle around her."
You watch all of them hesitate, then do what Echo asks.
"I don't think this isn't a training exercise I've done with her before..." Hunter remembers.
Echo nods. "You're right. It isn't."
"Turn your blasters to the stun setting." Echo tells the squad.
"Echo. What are you having us do?" Hunter asks, his tone a bit concerned.
Echo laughs. "Relax, Hunter. Rex told me he did this exercise with a Padawan named Ahsoka and it was very helpful. I figured it's worth a shot."
He turns to you. "Your job, Y/N, is to use your lightsaber to deflect everyone's blaster fires. If you get shot this time, you'll go unconscious. We'll do this over and over until you can block all of our shots."
You start to get really nervous. "I- I can do that."
"This seems dangerous." Wrecker says.
"I agree." Hunter adds. "She's only a child. Maybe that Padawan could handle all of the shots, but I'm not sure if Y/N can."
"Have a little faith in your daughter, Hunter." Echo tells him.
"I can do this. I'll at least try." You reassure him.
"3...2...1... Fire!" Echo commands.
After Echo convinced the squad to try and stun you, they don't hesitate.
I guess they're used to doing this in their training on Kamino... You think.
You think you're doing well until one of Wreckers shots hits you. You go unconscious. When you wake up, you see Hunter standing over you.
"Y/N. Y/N, are you alright?" Hunter asks.
"You're heart has gotten so soft for children..." Crosshair sighs.
"She seems perfectly fine and stable to me." Tech adds.
Your vision goes back to normal and you can see everyone's faces clearly again.
"I'm fine now. C'mon, let's keep doing the training." You say, determined.
"That's the spirit." Echo says, placing a hand on your shoulder.
He exits the circle to watch. You try to focus extra hard this time. Echo commands the squad to fire, and before you know it, you pass out again. You wake up feeling frustrated.
"Keep focusing, Y/N. I know you can do this." Echo tells you.
You keep falling conscious and waking up again, doing this exercise over and over. You're exhausted, but you know Echo won't let you give up.
"Echo, she needs a break. I think that's enough for today." Hunter says.
Before Echo can speak, you say, "No, Dad. I need to do this."
You make eye contact with him and he nods, trusting you.
"3...2...1... Fire!" Echo commands for the last time.
This time, you focus all of your energy after sensing each blaster fire after the other. Your actions are fluid and accurate, and you feel confident that this is the time you'll succeed.
"Alright. Hold your fire!" Echo says.
Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, and Crosshair stop firing.
"I only just started having fun..." Crosshair mutters.
"Really, Crosshair?" Wrecker says, elbowing him.
You laugh at their brotherly banter. Everyone puts their blasters away.
"Good job, Y/N. That was exactly what I wanted you to accomplish today." Echo smiles.
"How do you feel?" Wrecker asks you.
"I think I need a nap..." You admit, yawning.
"You got about 11 already. I counted." Crosshair tells you.
You slowly walk back to your room. You quickly fall asleep because you're so tired when you get underneath your blankets. When you wake up, you see that a few hours have past.
You stretch and walk into the main hull of the ship.
"I missed you. You were gone for a while, and you seemed really exhausted." Omega says, hugging you.
You laugh a little bit. "I'm better now. I only passed out 11 times."
"11 times?!" Omega exclaims. "From what?"
"Echo had the rest of the squad help with this training exercise for me. I had to try and deflect all of their blaster fires on the stun setting with my lightsaber. They were all around me in a circle, so it was really difficult." You explain.
"Wow..." Omega marvels.
"What were you and my mom doing while the rest of us were gone?" You ask.
"We went to the markets to look around and then we fixed some things on the ship so Tech and Echo didn't have to." Omega says.
"That's nice of you two." You smile.
Echo calls you over to his room. "Y/N. Come here."
You groan. You don't want to have to do any more training today.
"Trust me, it's not more training." Echo laughs.
You walk into his room.
"You did really well today. I know I pushed you way beyond your limits." Echo starts.
"Yeah... it was a lot." You admit.
"I just want you to be careful. When you don't focus, or you don't expect what could happen, you make mistakes." Echo says. "I don't want you to make a mistake and end up really hurting yourself, or getting captured again."
You think back to when you ran away from the squad. You feel guilty about it for how reckless you were. You also think back to when the Empire captured you. You don't want to make that mistake of not being cautious again.
"I know. I'll be careful. I promise." You say, wanting to offer comfort that you'll work hard.
"You'd better be careful." He smiles.
You all stop at Cid's Cantina to get a job. Right now, the sun is setting. The training exercise took up most of the day. Tech and Crosshair go to the bar to get some drinks. Hunter and Echo go into Cid's office to talk with her. You, Omega, and Wrecker play cards at one of the tables.
Wrecker places a card on the pile in the middle and smiles smugly. "Try and beat that!"
Omega slaps a card down. "I just did." She takes snacks from the pile on the table that you all were betting on since you and Omega don't have credits.
"Aww, but I'm hungry!" Wrecker complains.
Crosshair overhears your conversation. "You do know we have rations on the ship right outside, right?"
"Well, yeah, but these are better!" Wrecker protests.
Crosshair rolls his eyes.
The door to Cid's office makes a whoosh sound as it opens. Hunter and Echo walk out.
"We've got a job." Hunter begins. "I think your training will prove to be useful during this mission, Y/N. There will be a lot of Imperial clones."
You smile. "You were right, Echo. This will be useful."
"Was there ever any doubt?" Echo jokes.
After you all wake up after a good night's sleep, you sit up in the cockpit to watch Tech prepare the ship.
"Can I fly?" You ask.
Tech has been teaching you to fly since you were really little. You feel pretty confident in your abilities.
"Not now. We're on a mission. I'll give you a lesson when we get back." Tech says, looking at the star map.
"Please, Tech?" You plead.
"What about me?" Omega asks.
Tech sighs. "You two can fly for a little while once we get to the planet our mission is on. However, we'll be in hyperspace for most for most of the trip there."
"That's fine! I'm happy with any time I can fly." Omega smiles.
You and Omega anxiously wait for when you can fly together. You two read the ship manuals. As boring as they are, you know that Tech will occasionally quiz you on the little details while you're flying.
