Bad Reputation: A Bad Batch Fanfiction Story

You're leaving Pabu today to go back to Ord Mantell and talk to Cid. Lyana hugs you and Omega.
"Come visit me soon." She smiles.
You look over at Wrecker who is piling up a bunch of food to take back with him. He goes back to the ship, beaming as he shows you the food. Crosshair takes another look at the ocean before getting on the ship. Echo and Tech are already onboard getting the Marauder ready to take off. You stand on the steps to get onto the ship. Hunter shakes Shep Hazard's hand. Dara walks over to you and Omega.
"Do we have to leave?" Omega asks.
"Yeah... do we have to? I mean-" Crosshair stops himself.
Dara laughs. "We'll be back soon. We almost have enough credits to start our lives here, remember?"
You think of Lucian again. "Oh. Yeah."
You walk onto the ship with Omega, Hunter, and Dara following.
"Cross! C'mon!" Wrecker shouts.
Crosshair groans and gets back on the ship.
"I promised you that you'd like it." You say, happy that he enjoyed his time on Pabu.

You're pacing around your room, thinking of what you'll say to Lucian about moving to Pabu. You're worried that you'll rarely get to see him. You sit on the floor and close your eyes to meditate. Focusing on everything around you, you begin to slow your breathing down. You do this for a while, just focusing on your breath, until an idea comes to you. You quickly leave your room and go to the cockpit where Tech is.
"Can you help me build something?" You ask him.
"What exactly would we be building?" He responds.
"Those hologram projector things. You know, the ones you can call Cid and Rex with?" You try to explain.
"Ah, yes. That will not be a problem. I believe I have all the necessary parts." Tech reassures you.
"What are you making it for?" Echo asks.
You feel a bit embarrassed. "Well, we're moving to Pabu, and I won't be able to see Lucian as much. I figured this way I could at least talk with him."
"That's a good idea." Echo says.
Tech turns to Echo. "Echo, can you manage the ship while I work with Y/N on her project?"
Echo nods. "Yeah. Have fun."

You follow Tech into his room. He reaches under his bed to get a box of spare parts. You sit on the ground as he searches through the box.
"These shall suffice." Tech says, showing you some parts.
"Have you made one of these before?" You ask.
He looks over at you. "Of course I have."
Tech hands you some screws and two parts. "Screw these two parts together."
You do as he instructs you.
"What does it feel like to use the Force?" Tech asks.
You lift another part closer to you using the Force. "It... It feels like electricity coursing through my veins."
Tech still looks perplexed after you used the Force. "Fascinating. It should be impossible, but it is not."
Tech continues to instruct you on what you need to do to make the holo-projector.
"Tech?" You say.
"Yes?" He responds.
"Do you think we'll ever stop the Empire? Will we ever be able to live without hiding?" You ask.
He hesitates before speaking. "We won't be able to stop them on our own, but if we worked with others, our odds of stopping the Empire would increase. As for living without hiding, I believe eventually can. I hope so, at least. I want you and Omega to enjoy your childhood."
"I hope we can, too. I'd like that." You respond.

After a little while, you and Tech finish building the holoprojectors. You're excited to give them to Lucian, but you're also terrified to talk to him about the fact that you'll most likely be moving to Pabu soon. You all exit the ship and go into Cid's Parlor. Tech lets you borrow his datapad so you can show Lucian the photos of Pabu. Lucian smiles at you when he sees you. You sit at the table where he's at.
"How was it?" He asks eagerly.
"It was amazing." You begin. "Here, I have photos to show you!"
You hand him the datapad so he can look at the photos.
"You look really nice in this one. Really... happy." Lucian says.
"Yeah. Happy..." You say.
He looks concerned. "Is everything okay, Y/N?"
You break eye contact with him. "We might be moving to Pabu soon. I won't be on Ord Mantell as much as I used to be. I- I'm sorry."
Lucian takes your hand. "Don't apologize. I'm happy for you. Truly. I'll find a way to visit you."
You remember the holoprojectors that you made. "When you can't be there with me, I have a way for us to talk."
You place one of the holoprojectors in his hand.
He gasps. "Is this a holoprojector?"
You nod. "Yep! Tech helped me make us some."
"This is amazing." He responds.
"I have an idea." You say. "What if we asked my parents and your parents if you can come with us the next time we go?"
Lucian smiles. "I'd really like that."

You and Lucian hold hands and walk up to Dara and Hunter.
"Can Lucian come with us the next time we go to Pabu? Just for a few days?" You ask.
"I don't think-" Hunter begins.
Dara looks over at him.
"I mean, we can think about it." He says.
"Thank you." Lucian says genuinely.
You two walk away and go find Omega.
"I seriously thought we he was going to say no." Lucian says.
You laugh. "He was. I think my mom is on our side, though. She knows you've never been off-world, and it would be a lot of fun for us."
Omega and Echo are playing Dejarik.
"I'll leave so you all can play together." Echo says. "Have fun."
"I think he's just mad that I won last round." Omega jokes.
"There's three of us. How are we going to play?" Lucian wonders.
You and Omega look at each other and nod.
"Y/N and I against you?" Omega suggests.
"What? No fair!" Lucian protests.

After a few rounds of the three of you playing Dejarik, Crosshair tells you and Omega to come into Cid's office with the rest of the squad.
"We'll be back soon." You tell Lucian.
"Alright." Lucian responds.
He still seems a little salty after you and Omega won all of the rounds ("This isn't fair! There's the both of you against me, and I barely play Dejarik!").
You and Omega giggle as you walk away.
"Get ready to see Cid's ugly side." Echo says as you walk up to the squad.
"We can handle it." Wrecker says positively.
"Personally, I believe that we've been seeing her ugly side all this time." Tech states.
"Shh, what if she hears us?" Omega says.
Cid steps out of her office. "If I hear what?"
"Nothing!" All of you say in unison.

You all cram into Cid's small office. Cid sits in her chair behind her desk.
"Alright. I'm giving you another chance because I'm feeling nice today." Cid sighs.
"Thank you, Cid." Omega smiles.
Cid looks around the room at all of you. "Don't make me regret my decision. If you mess up this time, that's it. You're done."
"Deal." Hunter says confidently.
"And no stalling before the mission. Get out of here." Cid says, shooing you out of her office.
"I'll be right back." You tell everyone.
You run over to Lucian and hold his hand for a moment.
"Cid's making us do a mission. I'll call you with my holoprojector when I can." You say.
"I look forward to it." Lucian responds.
