Claire's POV
I got Zealand dressed in his red polo shirt and jean shorts. I combed his hair and I brushed my hair and put it in a ponytail and did my makeup. I got dressed in a pink crop top and a black skirt. We went down stairs and I gave him his breakfast and wrapped Neo's present which was a dinosaur dump truck.
It was 5:30 and Neo's party was at 6:00, so I got Zealand and put him in his carseat. My mom drove us to the party and I realized I really needed to get my license since I was 17.
We went inside and Eileen welcomed me and I hugged Neo and told me happy birthday. We went to the backyard, which I didn't realize Neo's party was a pool party. Eileen gave me one of her swimsuits since we were about the same size. I kept an extra swimsuit for Zealand in his diaper bag just in case and I put it on him.
I got in the water and Zealand splashed around and I got one of the baby floats out and put Zealand in it. He really enjoyed it and Eileen got in and put Neo in one and him and Zealand loved splashing around.
After all the guests arrived, we went inside for some cake and I saw it was a dinosaur cake and we sang
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Neo, happy birthday to you" we all sang and Eileen blew out Neo's candle. Zealand clapped along with everyone. Eileen cut the cake and I sat down and fed some to Zealand. I asked Eileen where she got the cake at and she said she got it from the nearby bakery and I told her I ordered Zealand's cake from there too.
It was present time and I asked Eileen for Neo to open mine and Zealand's first and she did. He tried to unwrap it and some of the other kids helped him and Neo saw it and Eileen read the card while Neo played with the dump truck. I laughed as Zealand helped him play with it and so did everyone else.
As the guests started leaving, I helped Eileen clean the mess as Zealand and Neo played on the floor with all Neo's presents.
"You don't have to help" she said and I shook my head
"I want to help" I said as I dumped all the trash in the trash can "but I expect you to help clean up Zealand's party in return" I joke and she laughs
"Of course" she says and I laugh "I can't believe he's already 1, my baby is gone" she says
"Hey, he is still your baby, they'll always be our babies" I say and she shrugs
"I guess you're right" she says and she picks up Neo and throws him in the air as he laughs "you're still my chunky monkey" she says and kisses his cheek
"I better get going, my mom's gonna worry why I'm staying so late" I say, picking up Zealand and she nods
"Thank you for helping clean up" she says and I smile and nod
"No problem" I tell her and she hugs me and I step outside "bye" I say
"Bye bye" she says, waving with Neo's hand "thank you for coming to my party" she says in a baby voice and I laugh.
