Claire's POV
Zealand woke up at 7:45 today and I got him dressed in his red dino shirt and jean shorts. I put Dinotrux on TV, he was into dinos now like Neo. I have him Cheerios in a bowl and some water in his sippy cup. I got dressed pretty casual, just a t shirt and jean booty shorts. The Paw Patrol musical starts at 4:30, so it gave me plenty of time.
I decided to take Zealand to the park, I put him in his stroller and we walked to the park. I sat down at the bench and scrolled through Instagram and Zealand played on the playground and he even chased a squirrel, which was very cute to watch. He sat on my lap and watched me scroll through social media. Then I saw Hayden come up to me
"Hey guys" she says
"What?" I ask, holding on to Zealand tight
"Oh, nothing, hey Zealand" she says "remember me?" She asks him and he just blankly stares at her, he gets shy now instead of hugging strangers
"Don't talk to my son" I tell her very stern
"Well, I'm the one carrying his little brother" she bends down to Zealand "I have your baby brother right here" she says, pointing to her tummy. Zealand looks up at me
"Baby?" He asks me
"No Z, you don't have a brother" I tell him "go away and leave us alone" I tell her and she stands up
"You shouldn't lie to your kid" she says "he's going to have a half brother whether you like it of not" she adds and walks away and I just stare at her as she leaves.
I go home and put Zealand in the car. I buckle him in his carseat and I drive us to the theater. Eileen was already there and I get Zealand out of the car and I put him down as I grab the diaper bag. I hold Zealand's hand and I go to Eileen
"Hey" Eileen says and I don't look at her "what's up with you?" She asks
"I saw Hayden at the park earlier" I admit to her
"Did she talk to you?" She asks and I nod
"Yeah and Zealand" I tell her
"What did she say to Zealand?" She asks and shrug
"That he was gonna have a little brother and I told her to leave him alone and stop planting stuff in his head" I explain
"That poor baby, he's gonna have so much going on when he's older, he's gonna have siblings that he doesn't even know about" she says and I nod
"My poor son, what did I do to him?" I ask her and she shrugs
"You didn't know" she says "it's the same for me" she adds
"How did we get so unlucky with baby daddies?" I ask her and she smiles
"I know right" she says and I laugh.
We go inside and take our seats, I put Zealand on my lap and Eileen puts Neo on her lap. The pups come on stage
"PUPPY!" Zealand says, pointing to the characters on stage
"Yeah, it's a puppy" I tell him and he smiles at me
"Woof woof" Neo says, making Zealand laugh at him
"He's been learning animal sounds" Eileen explains and I nod
"Zealand too" I tell her and she smiles.
During intermission, I buy a soft pretzel for Zealand and Neo and a large popcorn for me and Eileen. We go back inside and we watch the rest of the show while our kids laugh and make animal sounds for the entire show.
After the show, we exit the theater and I buckle Zealand in his seat and hug Eileen goodbye
"Have safe travels" she says and I nod
"You too" I tell her while she buckles Neo in his carseat.
"Bye bye" Zealand waves to Eileen and Neo
"Bye bye" Neo says to Zealand
"Remember when we did that for them" Eileen says and I laugh
"Oh yeah, now they do it by themselves" I say and I get in the car and honk them good bye.
