A couple days later, January 2
Claire's POV
I got Zealand up at 8:30, he usually doesn't sleep that long, but today he did.
"Happy birthday baby boy" I say, picking him up, he rubbed his eyes and yawned "I thought you were gonna sleep the whole day away" I say and I kiss his cheek and he smiles
I get his white shirt with a 1 on it on him and I put his suspenders on him and put his jeans on and to finish it off I put the red bow tie on off
"You look so handsome, Z" I say and we go downstairs. I do my hair and make up and put my outfit on. I see mom putting the Cocomelon banners up and I ask her to watch Zealand while I get the cake. I walk down to the bakery and I pick up the Cocomelon cake that said Zealand on it.
I walk home with it and I put it on the counter while I put the candles on it
"Coco" Zealand says, looking at the cake and I smile
"Yes, it's Cocomelon just for your birthday" I tell him and he claps his hands.
The guests arrive, but not Eileen, she said she would be late because Neo was sleeping in and she didn't want him to be grumpy all day. I welcome everyone at the door and Zealand stands at my legs, helping me greet everyone.
Everyone comes in and starts hugging and kissing Zealand and telling him happy birthday. Eileen comes in last and I greet her and hug her
"Sorry I'm late" she says, holding Neo "this decided to sleep in today" she looks at Neo and I laugh
"That's ok, Zealand slept till 8:30 today" I tell her and she sighs
"It must be a good day for the babies to sleep in" she says and I laugh
"I guess so, come in" I say, inviting her in. She puts Neo down and picks Zealand up
"Happy birthday, little guy" she says, tickling him while he laughs his head off
"You're gonna make him pee" I say, laughing. She kisses Zealand's cheek and puts him down. We all talk and I catch up with some family members I hadn't seen in a while.
After a while, I light the candles and we sing to Zealand
"Happy birthday to Zealand, happy birthday to you" we sing and I have Scott and Alice blow the candles out and everyone claps and Zealand claps too, making everyone laugh.
We eat the cake, which was chocolate and I let Zealand lick the Cocomelon characters on top of the cake. Zealand opens his presents and I read the cards for him. Eileen got Zealand a Cocomelon JJ talking doll and he loved it. The sheet I got him hasn't came in yet and I knew it wasn't gonna come for his birthday.
After the party, Eileen helped me clean up and Zealand and Neo played with Zealand's new toys and I thanked Eileen for helping me clean up
"So glad the parties are over, they can be messy" I say and Eileen agrees
"It's official, we now have 1 year old toddlers" Eileen says
"We both have crazy boys" I add and she nods
"But, they are sweet" she says, watching them play "they love each other" she adds
"Yeah, they are gonna have each other's back" I say and Eileen looks at me
"Just like us" she says and I hug her
"Thanks for being there for me" I say and she hugs back
"I'll always be there for you guys" she says and I smile at her
"You're the best person I've ever met" I say and she puts a hand on my shoulder
"I know" she jokes and I roll my eyes and laugh "but seriously, I love being your friend, you and Zealand are so cool" she says and shrug
"Zealand is definitely cool" I say
"You both are" she says "never doubt that" she adds and I nod
"Ok" I say and she pats my shoulder
"I gotta get going, bye" she says, picking Neo up
"Bye" I say and she leaves and I close the door and I pick Zealand up and I throw him in the air "I love you, my big boy" he rests his head on my chest and I kiss his head.
