Jungkook pov

"First thing I'm gonna do, like Dad said, is swallow my pride," I murmured.

I'd already done it once, I could do it again. Jimin had looked so confused that his anger seemed to disappear entirely, and he even seemed soft for a split second.

If I could get that response more often we might be off to a halfway decent start.

I didn't expect things to change over night, because I was still highly likely to revert to my old ways, but I was gonna try.

If I could get us past the at-each-others-throats stage, then maybe it would be time to very subtly woo him.

So. Phase one. Tame the angry Jimin.

It was almost time to go.

Almost time to see him.

I opened my laptop just to close out of the horrible medication's page.

I couldn't stomach looking at it ever again.

"What happened to you?" I wondered out loud.

"What?" Dre said, his eyes fluttering open.

"What?" I said.

"You say something?"

"Yeah. Get up. Time to go."

Time to go get my omega.

Soon after, Dre and I got to the study room. At 11:55 this time.

A familiar, mouth-watering scent hung thick in the hallway. I prepared myself to see him again, and he was just as devastating as last time.

Jimin and Taehyung were already there, poring over a spiral notebook, pens in hand, like a couple of nerds.

Man, it was cute. When they heard us, Jimin's dark eyes jerked up to meet mine. They reached deep down inside me and touched my soul.

Jimin's eyes swept my body and his lips parted slightly. Did his pupils dilate, or was I imagining things?

"Time to start the party," Dre said, coasting into the room and dropping down into a chair, throwing his arm across the back.

"How's it going, guys?" Tae asked, as laid back as ever. I gave him a nod but didn't say anything, just had a seat.

Jimin checked the time on his phone. "On time and everything. Will wonders never cease?"

I couldn't hold back on that one. "Still a grandma, I see."

Jimin balled his fists up and set them on his hips. "A Golden Girl, thank you very much." That surprised a laugh out of me. I coughed to cover it up.

"If you're done losing a lung, let's get to work. My research is shaping up nicely, and it looks like I've got enough to cover all three sections of our subjects, and I know Taehyung can stretch it to six pages each."

"I'm on it," Taehyung said, twirling a pencil between his fingers.

"Okay, get ready for some baton passes. Dre, if I forward you my sources and highlight the pertinent information, think you can do the intros and conclusions from that?"

"I got you, man. Just tell me how you want it all to look."

Jimin did the Running Man, making the change in his pocket jingle.

Who has cash anymore?

Again, I covered my laugh with a cough, just as he started in the cabbage patch.

"You got me so excited I gotta dance it out. As far as the paper, here's what you need to do for APA format..."

I leaned back in my chair, just observing Jimin, now seeing him in a different light. I looked my fill in a way I hadn't allowed myself to before.

He made frantic marks with his pencil, in that hyperactive, expressive, flailing way of his.

It was surprisingly charming.

His tongue-in-cheek commentary and off-brand physical humor was actually hilarious, and I kept having to hide my laughter with a cough or fake sneeze into my elbow.

Jimin twisted, away from Dre, and set his notebook down in front of me with a slap.

He aimed his intense focus on me, his brown eyes darting from my face to my chest and back to his notebook.

"Alright, Jeon, ready for your marching orders?" I nodded.

"Uh, okay," he said, expecting more flack from me.

" Tae has a plan for the paper, and we figured you can use his outline to outline the presentation, too..."

I didn't mean to zone out, but having Jimin this close and yet so far drove me insane.

I balled my fists up against my thighs to keep from touching him, pulling him into me, wrapping my arms around him.

I took deep breaths to calm my racing heart as he spoke, but I breathed through my nose, so I just kept filling up on his scent again and again and again.

My tongue darted out to wet my lips.

His dark eyes tracked the movement, then met mine for a fleeting moment.

My dick twitched in interest, but just like that jimin's eyes were back on his notebook.

I was weak with desire for this man. He drew me like a moth to a flame. I breathed him in again, and again and-

"Can you live with that?" Jimin lifted his eyebrows at me, annoyance already peppering his voice.

"Live with what?" I asked, cluelessly.

he dropped his pencil and threw his hands up, turning away in frustration.

"You were giving me that serial killer stare and nodding the whole time, you can't tell me you missed everything I said."

"Not everything," I said, aware of how pathetic I sounded.

"Would it kill you to pay attention for like, five minutes? I'm not gonna explain the whole thing again."

I held up my hands and patted the air, trying to use a calm tone.

"Just chill out, alright?" Instead of calm, it came off as condescending.

Shit. I need to work on that.

"Chill out? You're purposely zoning out while I'm trying to get work done. There's no need to sabotage the entire group because you don't like me." He waved his arms toward Tae and Dre, who were basically watching the show.

I tried again. "Hold on, that's not what happened."

"Why do you always assume the worst?"

"I always assume the worst, Jeon, because it always is the worst." jimin's face hardened, the way it did when he was ready for a knock-down drag-out fight.

Frustration and anger rose up in me and I couldn't control it.

Why did I think I could ever stop beefing with Park Jimin?

What was I smoking when I thought this could work?

I started to fire back, the old me ready to give him the worst, if that's what he expected, if that's what he wanted to pull out of me, but when I opened my mouth I just stopped.

I just didn't have it in me anymore.
