The night was so amazing except for the fact I kept thinking that I had to tell her everything tonight.

After we walked down the mountain I convinced her to go get ice cream with me.

Actually, I didn't have to do much convincing.
She was all on board after I told her Bille's not only had the best breakfast food but the best homemade ice cream in America as well.

Her eyes lit up about that and she clapped her hands with glee.

Ugh, why did she have to be so cute?

A thought I kept thinking as she spoke animatedly across from me in the booth.

"I'm telling you that boy can eat!" She said excitedly as she finished telling me a story of how Connor took down 12 pancakes when he was only three years old.

A werewolf trait of course but I wasn't bringing that up at the dinner table. I planned to tell her on the walk home. My heart raced at the thought. Jules told me she didn't think Millie knew anything about werewolves.

How and why is what I kept asking myself.

Surely David was going to tell her eventually. I mean it was going to be quite obvious when Connor turned 13 and shifted for the first time.

Why didn't she already know about werewolves and mates?
There had to be a reason. Also if Connor is an alpha that means David was. If so why didn't his pack come to help Millie when he passed away.

What kind of pack doesn't take care of their own?

The thought pissed me off and got me questioning why Jules left the pack in the first place. The fact that Millie told me David's dad abandoned him when he was only 18 gave me a clear indication that he did not step down from being alpha.

Freaking jerk face. Any person that wouldn't let their son take over the pack is messed up in the head.

It still doesn't fit together why David didn't just fight for the title. He was the rightful alpha and surely would have won in a stand down.

"Um hello, earth to Sam?" Millie said. Waving a hand in front of my face looking cuter than ever. "So can I have a bite or what?"

"Yes of course," I said through a grin, "only if I can have a bite of yours."

"Well......," she spoke with a question in her voice pulling her ice cream away from me and smiling.

"Don't be a tease," I told her

"Fine, but only one bite," she spoke with sternness in her voice.

I got the peanut butter crumble and she ordered the Oreo explosion. After taking a bite of hers I knew for sure we were mates. I knew that anyways but this just confirmed it.

" I looooove yours, but mine is better." She spoke, taking me away from my thoughts once again.

"Agreed."

A few minutes later and we were waiting on our ticket, her hand in mine across the table.

As I sat there and rubbed the top of her hand I couldn't help but notice how right this felt.

I could stay here like this all night but knew that she was anxious to get back to Connor and that I had to tell her in private what needed to be said.

Don't be a coward Sam. You're mates she'll be okay with it.

After I paid I looked over at her and asked "you ready?" With my heart thumping in my chest.

She nodded back while smiling.

It's go time.
