It was mid-afternoon when I finally got to go on my hunt. I had spent all morning putting my signature on papers and doing all kinds of dull, mundane Alpha duties. My favorite duty, apart from caring for the pack though, is hunting.
I love to be in my wolf form and run through the Forest as my wolf instincts take over. There is nothing like the feeling of my paws on the ground beneath me and the wind hitting my fur as I breathe in all the magnificence of the Forest.
As Alpha, It is my job to make sure the pack has enough food. I bring home the hunt, with the help of other male wolves, of course, and the omegas cook it.
I usually bring my gammas on my run with me while my beta and best friend , Theo , watches the pack, but today for some reason, I decided to go alone
Alone in the forest feels so good.
I stopped running when a whiff of deer hit my nose. It was close very close. I carefully took one step after another in the direction of the smell stalking my prey.
After spotting the doe just behind a tree.I bent ready to hit full speed when suddenly a whole new smell invaded my senses.
The sweetest scent of jasmine hit my nose. The most exquisite smell that had every invaded my senses. It overtook my whole body.
I have got to find out where that is coming from.
I stood up in attention and took off in the opposite direction of the deer, eager to find the source of the smell.
"We're going on an adventure hunt; we're going on an adventure hunt." I heard a cute little boy voice sing. Curious, I peeked through the trees.
Then, I saw her. Beautiful honey blonde hair cascading down her petite yet curvy frame. Every inch of her was pure perfection. She had full pink lips and gorgeous bright green eyes framed by dark mesmerizing eyelashes.
There was small dark circles under her eyes indicating she didn't get much sleep, however it didn't take away from her beauty. If anything, it made me more curious about her.
Every part of my body was humming in excitement. Mate. I was so excited in that moment I knew, knew she was my mate.
The one I was destined to be with. The one who would be my luna, or queen of my pack.
I also knew she was human, strange not what I was expecting but perfect.
Her being human posed a problem. I could not very well March up to her and say hey you're my mate. That would be awkward.
What on earth was she doing in the middle of the woods and with a little boy anyways?
"Shhh," She stopped and said to the boy. I wondered if she sensed me. She anxiously looked around. Yep she definitely feels me watching her. Oops not trying to creep her out.
"Why did you shhhhhh me?" The little boy whined. He is adorable. His hair and eyes looked a lot like hers and I wondered what the connection was.
I was so focused on her I almost didn't notice the smell on the boy. This boy was not all human. No, he was something else indeed.
I wonder if she knows.....I wonder if he knows?
"Because baby, mommy needs to concentrate for a second." Oh wow. Her voice is angelic. Hearing her speak was pure bliss.
Wait did he say mommy? How could that be? This boy was not human.
I'm getting pretty tired. Can you give me a piggyback ride?" He asked sweetly. She immediately bent down.
Aww she is a good mom. But what on earth is she doing in the middle of the forest?
Did she even know which way she was going? From her increased heart rate and general concern it seemed not.
Although she looked utterly exhausted she put the boy on her back and took off in surprisingly the right direction. Good girl.
Keeping my distance of course, I decided following her was necessary to make sure they made it back to the town safely.I would not interfere unless she or he needed me.
I still did not understand what she was doing in the forest. Humans never came to these parts of the forest. I had a witch put an enchantment on it, so that other packs would know to stay away.
Although humans could not understand the enchantment, they usually felt the power and instinctively stayed away. The fact that she did not was concerning. Could she not feel the warning?
About 20 minutes later we were arriving at a wooden cottage in a clearing, and suddenly I knew exactly who she was.
This must be Millie Westerfield and the boy must be Connor, her son. Usually, I do not grant anyone outside of the pack permission to live on my territory.
However, Juels had been in my pack forever and was practically family. She even insisted I called her Aunt Juels, so when she asked if her nephew's widowed wife and son could live in her empty cottage, I naturally said yes.
Aunt Jules had spoken a great deal about Millie, Connor, and their recent hardships, but I couldn't remember all of the details. I made a mental note to ask Aunt Juels for more information later.
I did know that David had been a full wolf. This boy must be a werewolf........Half werewolf at the very least.
He would need someone to teach him our ways and show him how to shift when he came of age
No wonder Aunt Juels insisted they move here. I decided then and there that the person to teach him would be me.
I needed to finish hunting and get back to my pack even though I did not want to leave my mate and her child. Already I had an insane need and desire to protect them.
I told myself I would be back to visit Aunt Juels cottage very soon. In human form of course.
I still didn't know if Millie knew about werwolves, which would be another thing I would need to ask Aunt Jules.
