Double Date Night

We all took a look at the menu. Everything sounded delicious.

"Do we want to get an appetizer?" Arin spoke up after we glanced at the menu.

Suzy shrugged, Dan nodded.

"Sure, what seems good?" I asked, flipping to the appetizers.

"Either the chips and salsa, or onion rings?"

"Chips and salsa sounds good." Dan said, pointing to it.

"Sure, they're salsa is pretty good here." Suzy nodded.

"I won't have any, but that's fine."

I looked at Arin with confusion.

"Can't stand tomatoes."

"Hmm, that's right." I said after taking a sip of my drink.

We continued to skim over the menu until our server came back.

"Is everyone ready, or do we need more time?"

"We're ready. First we're gonna do the chips and salsa app. I'll take the buffalo chicken sandwich, no tomato." Arin said, handing the menu over to Brent.

Dan went next, handing him the menu. "I'll do the Greek salad with vinegarette."

I spoke up. "Can I get the Hawaiian burger, side of spicy fries?" I handed him my menu, as well as Suzy's.

She was zoned out, so I nudged her a little. "Oh! Can I get the chicken pesto panini?"

He read everything back to us, and then left.

We chatted amongst ourselves for a bit before Dan started talking to Arin about the Giants. Seeing him get so passionate about a topic he loves made me smile. Arin was listening, obviously lost but being a supportive friend. Suzy nudged me, so I looked over at her. She twitched her head in Dan's direction, smiling. I smiled back and nodded. We both thought it was adorable.

"So how have things been?" She inquired quietly.

"Not bad honestly. Shortly after I told Arin I'd be moving here permanently, him and Dan brought up the idea of editing. It's been fun! Exhausting, but fun. Basically just.. living the dream, as they say."

She nodded, taking sip of her drink. "It's nice to finally catch up. I haven't seen you in what? Like, 3 years?"

"About 3, yeah. Maybe 4. Honestly, the time has flown by. I'm really sad I lost contact with everyone. I hope they aren't mad."

"I don't think so! We understand how life can be. You're making up for it now, that's what matters."

"I honestly love you guys. I can't imagine ever moving back."

She reached out for a awkward side hug. I hugged her, squeezing tight.

"Don't even think about it!" She squealed.

Arin glanced over at Suzy with a confused expression. Dan stopped mid sentence, looking at the two of us.

"Carry on. Ignore us." Suzy laughed, waving her hand away from us.

"What are we talking about?" Dan inquired.

Suzy sighed. "Ellie felt bad about losing contact with us for so long, and hoped you two wouldn't be mad, and she can't imagine moving away again. I told her she better not."

Brent came by with our entrée, dropped it off and left again. We started snacking on it, except for Arin.

Arin smiled. "God no, we love you too!"
