It was getting dark out, but I could see Arin driving, and Suzy in the passenger's seat. Dan was behind Arin, so I didn't have to walk around the car to get in, like a deer in headlights.

Perfect.

I did not want any comments on my outfit. Opening the door, I shut it as I slid in.

"Hey!" Suzy turned to the backseat to face me.

"Hey girl! How've you been?"

"Exhausted, but good. You?"

"Great!"

She gave me a quick look up and down, mouthing a "yes."

I rolled my eyes at her, but smiled.

"So.." I inquired. "Where are we headed?"

"A place called The Redwood. It's a bar and grill. Food's amazing."

"Sweet. I could honestly use a drink." Clicking my seatbelt into place, I sat back.

Dan chuckled, looking over at me. "Ya know, I don't drink anymore, but if I did, I'd be on the same page."

"I bet so. Aren't y'all taking some time off though?"

The only reason I knew was because they mentioned it in their video.

Arin spoke up as he pulled away and started driving. "Yeah, we've got enough recorded for a long time, hopefully enough 10 minute power hour footage too, but there's a new merch drop, and I think Dan's doing some NSP promo. So essentially a.. sort-of break from filming is all it really is."

I looked at Dan and smiled, glad to hear him getting back to NSP.

"So, not a vacation at all then."

"Nope, not at all." Dan laughed.

"More than normal though." Arin remarked.

A few minutes into the drive, Dan leaned forward as much as he could, resting his head on the back of Arin's seat. A low groan came out.

I looked over at him. His eyes were tightly closed, wrinkling the corners of his eyes.

"Are you okay?"

He groaned again.

Arin spoke up. "Motion sick."

"Oh right. I'm sorry."

He groaned again. "I usually lay down.. if it gets too bad."

"Well, come here!" I motioned him over. "Why are you still sitting up? I really don't want you puking in Arin's car."

He slid to the side, keeping his legs planted on the floor. Flattening his hair with his hand, he rested his head on my lap, tucking his arms to his chest.

I had to look out the window to hide the smile creeping up on me. Covering my mouth with my hand, Suzy spoke up.

"Is that better, Dan?"

"Mhmm."

The urge to comfort him was undeniable. I felt terrible. I couldn't imagine what motion sickness was like, or how much it must affect his life. I've heard him comment about it in games, but I had no idea it could get this bad.

Before my brain could communicate what was happening, I found myself gently massaging his head, careful not to pull the mane that was attached. I could only run my fingers through a certain amount, but it was apparently working because his body finally relaxed.

They talked to eachother, while Dan and I stayed quiet. I was afraid to talk, and startle him, not sure if he was sleeping or not. I hoped so.

He stayed like this for the rest of the ride, Arin occasionally glancing in the rearview to check on me, Suzy looking behind her to check on Dan. At one point, she even smiled and gave me a nod, which I took it as I was doing something right.
