Right after football practice, Kayleb asked his soulmate's best friend if he wanted to come to his house with his friends.
Chad was surprised but accepted before the lycan could say anything else.
But when he asked if Chad was there in his pickup truck. Suddenly, the taller werewolf stopped in his movements. His face became pale so that it seemed he had died some time ago.
He pushed his medium-length, bright blonde hair. The reddish sun, which slowly fell from the sky, bathed his figure in its light once again as if he was pulling all her light close to him. It made his skin glow a strange color.
As a relatively strong breeze blew over them, Chad suddenly turned back to Kayleb, his eyes shimmering with unspoken pain.
"It's Dal's pickup," he muttered, "I don't have a car."
Kayleb was overwhelmed by his pain and could only look at him with compassion. His own light brown hair was flying everywhere, the substance holding it together no longer working.
"Don't worry, I'll wait. I had to get a new car for these idiots anyway."
As he waved his hands at his friends, a loud "Hey" was heard, a simultaneous harmony that brought a sickly sweet smile to Kayleb's lips.
Chad only nodded and vanished into the locker room.
It left Kayleb stunned and even more pained. What had happened to throw this guy, whose heart was as big as his body, to suffer so much misery? His never-ending smile had disappeared because as if it had never been there. His calm nature is in complete turmoil, and there seems to be nothing he can do about it.
No one interrupted Kayleb's train of thought when they saw his contorted face.
Most of the people around him left, except for his closest friends. Luke's small hand never left his arm, which helped ease his racing mind somewhat.
Without words, everyone knew how worried Kayleb was about Chad. Even some of the others who had known him for their entire lives were starting to get very concerned.
When the tall blonde wolf finally emerged from the locker room, freshly showered but still in a somber mood, he let out a small sigh of despair. But his dull eyes cleared when he saw Kayleb and the others still sitting there. His gloomy mood completely changed to happy excitement.
It was obvious that he didn't think Kayleb's offer was real.
"James, Tarik, and Jerome? You take James' car, okay?"
It wasn't a question only shaped that way. Everyone could hear the determination in his gentle voice. He even stood up before anyone could say anything.
Luke broke the stunned silence by jumping up and running towards Kayleb until he was walking beside him.
Clara and Neil quickly followed them.
The girl turned around as she reached her Zaphal to see where Chad was. Her brown, curly hair flew into her face. The wind helped her look as innocent as possible.
"Are you coming?"Chad was stunned by the beauty that beckoned him to follow them. He blushed the same way he did when Kayleb teased him. Lowering his head, he nodded slightly and followed the pretty girl, only so they both could follow the most handsome guy Chad had ever seen, even more beautiful than Dal - which he thought was impossible.
When they got to the car, Chad was surprised. It was a large pickup truck, radically different from the sports car Kayleb previously drove.
"Where is your car?" he asked the lycan, confused.
