Kayleb's eyes widened. It was as if the world around him had disappeared once again.
When he saw his soulmate's healthy, beautiful skin, he felt like someone had knocked all the air out of his lungs. His hair had grown out a little, just enough to make a difference from his old self. Although his hairstyle looked a little silly for Kayleb, he had to admit that Dal looked good with it.
But he seemed strangely shy, almost timid, as he stood there, trying to look away.
"Hey," Dal finally answered, also out of breath.
It was as if all inhibitions had fallen away. The lycan began to run: not walk, not jog, but running at full speed. Dal watched wide-eyed as his soulmate ran towards him, tears streaming down his strong facade. A pang of guilt almost robbed him of the moment of realizing what true love meant: putting himself back in his place and caring for someone else.
When Kayleb reached him just a few seconds after starting running, Dal caught him effortlessly and pulled him up off the ground, only to spin around a few times. His hands rested securely on Kayleb's waist, holding him in place as they spun out.
Kayleb's hands were around Dal's neck as they stopped, their eyes never leaving the others, their noses so close that not even a piece of paper could fit between them.
Their worlds were reunited. Nothing else was left around them. In their eyes, there was only the other and no one else.
Dal couldn't believe his soulmate would be waiting for him with open arms. After everything that had happened, he thought he just wanted to kill him.
"You smell so good," Kayleb suddenly murmured.
Dal hadn't even noticed that his soulmate had turned his head away from him to nuzzle into his neck. Even though it tickled him a little, he couldn't bring himself to say something about it.
"And you feel like you belong in my arms!"
To emphasize his words, Dal tightened his hug. If Kayleb hadn't been a lycan, he would most likely have killed him by it or at least seriously injured him.
"I just hope in your arms!" Kayleb chuckled softly, but only until a mischievous glint grew in his eyes. "Pervert."
Dal was deeply shocked at such a suggestive suggestion from Kayleb. He was about to argue but then turned his head and saw the mischievous grin on his lips that matched the glint in his eyes. He sighed in relief that he only meant it as a joke.
Moments later, the lycan had placed his hands on his soulmate's chest and gently pushed him away. Ensuring he doesn't fall.
He could see the sadness in Dal's eyes. To make sure he didn't push him away completely, he ran a hand down one of his arms until he reached his hand. With a sideways grin, he grasped his index finger and raised his hand.
When their hands were between their faces, he let go of Dal's index finger and splayed his hand against his.
"Your hand is bigger."
Not knowing how to answer, Dal just smiled shyly, his cheeks getting redder by the second.
But as it turns out, he didn't have to say anything because while maintaining eye contact, Kayleb intertwined their hands. The lycan had a front row to his soulmate, resembling more like a tomato than his usual self.
"Come sit with us!"
He didn't let Dal say anything before pulling them out of their shared illusion, where only the two existed.
Dal had thought it would make him uncomfortable being pulled like that by a boy, another guy. But all he could feel was a resonating warmth filling him out. He bathed in it.
